Mee Hun Kueh Soup (Small) RM8.90 SST Tax 6% = RM0.53
This is apparently one of the Oldest and a Well Known Noodle Shop in Malaysia with a History of over 20 years. It is Big, Air-Conditioned and feels Breezy. It also seems to be quite Popular as there were several Customers within even on a Friday Afternoon. Staffs are Acceptably Polite. I also noticed they are Very Vegetarian-Friendly.
The Sambal Chilli has a Strong Sourish Kick and the taste of Lime and Calimansi is Very Strong. The Chilli itself has a quite a Kick and the Spiciness will linger on your Tongue.
The Mee Hoon Kueh took about 6 Mins to be served up. The Broth is Clear and Light and has a 清甜 taste that is further accentuated with the presence of Slightly Saltish Ikan bilis. The Mee Hoon Kueh is Definitely Handmade and Taste Nice. It is properly cooked through and don't taste Doughy. Its not the Super Soft type as I felt that it still has abit of Chew. But compared to Normal Kopitiam type of Mee Hoon Kueh, this tastes at a much Higher Level.
Even for a Small Bowl that I ordered, I feel that the Amount of Ingredients are Generous. Minced Pork is Big Cut and they taste Juicy and not Overly Porky. Also comes with 2 Small Fishballs and Meatballs. Fishballs feels Homemade and are Bouncy but not Overly Bouncy and I feel it has a Slightly Stronger initial hit of Fish Taste. Meatball is a Pork Ball and is Soft and Bouncy, not Overly Porky with a noticeable Saltier Taste.
One thing I notice is that they are especially Generous with I think what is Mani Leaf. This Vegetable is Pretty Tasteless but when eaten, gives the Dish a Nice Subtle Soft Veggie Crunch.
At RM8.90 (S$2.60), this is Absolutely Worth to eat even for a Small Bowl. The Whole Dish feels Very Gentle on the Tummy and would be Especially Amazing if eaten on a Cold Rainy Day. I can definitely recommend this for anyone to try.

Read moreEdited 1-Aug-2024: Almost a year later (and still an ardent fan), there's something new in the house, Grandma Ong Lor Mee. Gave it a try but it was just decent 😕. I'll still stick to what they do best, i.e. their Ban Mian! 😊
Edited 4-Aug-2023: Returned again to savour their Spicy Volcano Black Noodles. This time round I opted for Crispy Shrimp Cake 🦐 (side snack), with add-ons of Minced Pork and Mani Vegetables (马尼菜) 🍃.
Look what I got, a big bowl of soup 🍲 to go with my noodles. The Shrimp Cake was crispy, Kopi good, too. All in all, it was a hearty dinner, totally worth the money spent! 👍
I was never a fan of pan mee, but I think I was changed after visiting Grandma Ong for my breakfast today.
Ordered their dry version of Volcano Black Noodles (火山黑面) 🍜 with spiciness Level 3 🌶🌶🌶 and it was bomb! The set meal, which I think was RM5 extra compared to à la carte, came with a drink and a snack or 小吃 of your choice (wide varieties of selection; I chose chrysanthemum tea and fried cheese tofu). Also opted for minced pork 🐷 add-on at only RM1.90, and I can say they're generous with the portion.
❓️ How to eat pan mee? Mix all the ingredients and noodles well, then take your first bite. Enjoy all the flavours combined together, before going for the soup (I wished they gave more though, the saltiness was just right!).
The shop also has the instant noodles version on sale, and at a discounted price if you buy in bulk. There's 3 variants, one's priced RM49 (normal noodles; dry and soup available) and the other RM59 (charcoal noodles), if memory serves me right, for 10 packets respectively. For the RM49, you can mix between soup and dry version if you buy there.
Definitely gonna return to try their other noodles variants! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
p.s.: if you're undecided between Grandma Ong and L* B* Mian, come to the former and you'll then agree...
Read moreCustomer service was not so friendly. Waiting time quite long despite I'm the only customer, took around 15 minutes. Set portion was so small that I was shocked when the food arrived. Noodles so few, shredded meat is as little as a sprinkle only. I pay Rm15.90 for a kid's meal?? Not enough English words in the menu, had to depend on the images.
Tastes average only, nothing special also. Not sure why so famous. Also, I suspect the kitchen is not hygiene, after makan go home, straight away stomachache.
Seriously, not recommended at all. Trust me, the food is not worth it. This will be my first...
