Barney's DX Sdn. Bhd. — Restaurant in Johor

Came from KL on a short trip and decided to stop by this place for dinner. The place is very cozy and laid back, with lots of people coming with their families. The place is Malay-run and the staff were friendly.

We tried their mushroom soup which was probably canned cream of mushroom soup, so nothing really special.

Their chicken chop was crispy and flavourful, but unfortunately loses out to those that I’ve tried myself in KL. I like how their chicken is fresh and does not have that lingering chicken taste. I’d suggest for them to maybe experiment with herbs or different variations of batter. Both the mushroom sauce and black pepper sauce complemented it well. I’d give the chicken chop a 7.5 or 8/10.

Cordon bleu was not bad too, but did not have enough cheese in it. Flavour wise was nice as well, but I’d pick the chicken chop if I had to choose again. 7/10 for the cordon bleu.

All in all, it’s a dainty family style diner where you can get decent cheaper western food, since they’re not common in Kluang. Food is good enough for a happy meal but no WOW factor that’ll...

TLDR: The food here is as good as I remember! :’) But why talk bad about your customer orders? . Was here on 14/09/2025, 11:30am with my family of 11 people. Booked on previous day to avoid kitchen/staff hassle.

From entering, seating and staff taking order, all was really smooth and waitress were helpful. Which we remind them it is okay if the food taking some time to served.

I’ve been living in Kluang for years back then and had visit Barneys sometimes weekly, which is why I bring my family here for the food.

But, somehow I heard uneasy talking from the kitchen probably the cook saying “Pagi-pagi dah order burger.” which imply our orders that included two serving of wagyu burgers, plus no other table was occupied at that time. And, it was in the menu!

We heard it very clearly the cook sounds annoyed and mad.

It is really unfortunate experience since it is such a comfortable place and easy access from train station too.

The person who ordered that wagyu burger does say the burger is sedap, pity that the cook could say something...

Experience rate 1 to 5 which 1 is very bad and towards 5 is very good. Food ordered as below. Set G - Baked Salmon. Rate is 1. The Salmon was tasteless and its not worth of the price. Veggie Spag - Rate is 1. Tasteless. The veggie is raw and pasta was hard. Cordon Blue - Rate is 3. No comment for this dish. The Tuna Club sandwich - I rate 4.5. Atleast the sandwich was good and delightful. Mushroom Soup - I rate 4.5. The soup was good. We all like it very much. Set F - Pizza - Rate is 3. My in laws like it. Set D - Grl Chix - Rate 2.5. Had to eat because was hungry that time so no choice.

Summary of Food. Overall I will rate 2.5. The place environment are good but the food not that good and definitely not up the expectation and the price of the food...
