Came here 2 days in a row to try out different food in search of something decent here.
Well, the otak-otak is the only item with a slight bragging rights. Especially the prawn otak-otak.
The char kuey teow is mediocre. Plain with just kuey teow and egg. Even with add on otak it's still to plain and uninteresting. Fried carrot cake is meh. Great aroma but bland and lacking taste. The chendol only qualified for 5 mouthfuls. It has a smoky sweetness and very little actual chendol inside. The pork satay looks incredible with a great variety but I'm truth is very lacking. Skinny skewers. Certain things items were over charred. Sauce is too rich in just peanut taste.
And according to everyone it's cheap here. Well, actually I don't think so. It's cheaper compared to bigger cities like KL, but it's expensive for Muar's standard.
I see the wanton noodle stall being extremely busy but I just give up trying.
It's worth it to visit here as in there are many things to choose from but it's definitely not a place for foodies and appreciators...
Read moreSoy Bean Drink & Beancurd I found a stall attached to a motorbike along Glutton Street whose boss makes & sells soy bean milk & soy beancurd. It has been a long time since I've tasted this drink in its real pure form.
Otak There's also this "Mr Otak Otak" stall managed by a friendly & hardworking boss whom I always address as "Mr Otak" and who makes & sells his own brand of good quality otah. I never fail to visit this stall at Glutton Street to munch up at least 10-20sticks whenever I'm in Muar.
Muah Chee Also not forgetting a couple who sells very nice Muah-Chee (glutinous rice mochi coated with grated peanuts) during the evening/night. As a Muah Chee lover, I can tell you not every can make it nice.
Actually, I believe every stall in Glutton Street have their own unique story, but one thing's for sure, most if not all stall owners strive hard to make a living and to deliver affordable quality food to...
Read moreMuar Glutton Street Food Stalls offer a great variety of local delights, and one of the highlights is definitely the otak-otak at just RM1 per piece! It’s a rare find at such an affordable price, and the taste is rich with spices and a nice smoky aroma from the grill.
Another must-try is the pig satay, which is hard to find in Malaysia. The meat is tender, flavorful, and well-marinated, making it a standout item for those who enjoy this delicacy.
For drinks, the herbal tea is a refreshing choice—rich in flavor and not sweet, perfect for cooling down after all the savory food. However, the 沙梨水 (Buah Kedondong juice) isn’t as pure compared to the one from Tanjong Sepat. It tastes slightly diluted, so if you’re a fan of the strong, natural taste, you might find it lacking.
Overall, Muar Glutton Street is a great spot for food lovers, offering rare finds and affordable...
