Muarar 99 Hotel — Hotel in Johor

The first impression when I came into the hotel was it was rather old with visible wear and tear and relatively old furniture and awkward reception. I also perceived the hotel will be noisy being located along a busy main road. But despite my early perception, the hotel has the following positve features; The room is sufficiently big and clean with enough furnishings Aircon is well maintained and runs well The bathroom/toilet is of acceptable standard with good water pressure and equipped with hot water No smell especially from smoking Lift works well I stayed on the 6th floor. Noise from cars and motobikes could be heard but not annoying or disturbing. The noise from the birds living in nearby rooftops are greater but only up to around 10.00 pm (this may be a negative for some) The receptionist during my stay was polite and very helpful, a "sunshine" for the the hotel industry. The only setback was the limited parking, as my car being a 4x4 could not be parked in the basement. Anyway, the polite and helpful receptionist allowed me to park by the side infront of the hotel. Overall, for the star rating and price of the hotel, my wife and I were happy with our stay at the hotel and gave it our full approval with a rating of 5 stars. Hotel is located just about 500m away from the famous 贪吃街。As we gotten a corner room, think is slightly more spacious than the other rooms but there's a big problem with the shower room. As the glass door opening is beside the toilet seat and it is build in a very odd angle that it can open up only a slight gap of maybe 15 degrees angle, making it very hard to get in and out of the shower area. I am of a very lean body type, for those who are bulkier or with beer belly then you can forget about getting in the shower area 😂. Otherwise room is simple and bed is OK if your are looking for a low budget stay. One other thing to take note of, the a big Coffeeshop just behind the hotel but there's karaoke session during the weekend starting about 8pm and ending late past 12 midnight. As the room sound proofing is not good and if you're staying window facing the Coffeeshop, good luck! The only plus point the singers are pretty alright with their singing no out of tune 😁. Food wise, 贪吃街 offer food from wanton noodles, satay( especially the pig intestine in sticker BBQ satay style) , dumpling, herbal drinks for the hot weather, Otah,...

Stayed here for one night on 28/12/2019 after reading rather a good reviews on TripAdvisor.This is my 2nd stay for a budget hotel in Muar having previously impressed with the one near Giant hypermarket (now NSK wholesale) just to try it out. Stayed in the 2nd floor, can't remember the room number. |The good |- shopping can be done within walking distance because of the location at the town center. |The bad |- Small size TV (which I thought initially was a picture frame) with a defective screen |- They listed out channels provided however only 2 channels can be assessed.|- The internet speed was quite good but the coverage was bad I just gave up of using it.|- At night I could not sleep because of the traffic noise which was horrible. Nothing much can be expected cause the building itself is not that tall and the location at the traffic junction.
