Popular breakfast destination. Difficult to get a seat, especially on restdays and public holidays. There are 2 foodstalls in business now when it used to be 3. The curry laksa stall and another offering pig offal soup are still operating while the kuay chap stall has moved to another part of town.
The curry laksa is good👍 and live up to its reputation. RM5 for a regular bowl, RM6 for one with added shrimps.
The pig offal soup served by the other stall used to taste good but standard has dropped drastically. Our order for 2 pax came with pig kidney, lung, liver, intestines and pieces of pork. Disappointingly, no slices of heart or tongue which is more to my liking. Cost RM18 together with 2 bowls of rice which I find is overpriced, considering this is Muar, known for its cheap hawker fare. Not recommended.
Update 9th Feb, 2021 : both stalls have since also shifted to a new location, just a few doors away bcos the original coffeeshop has been sold off to a new owner.
Got cheated by the lady laksa vendor during my last visit in April, 2023. Displayed price was RM7 per bowl but when it's time to pay, she told me it's RM8 because of 'added ingredients'. Told her that I never asked for 'added ingredients'. Didn't see any difference in the serving. Be careful of the sneaky laksa vendor. Best to confirm the price before placing your order. Downgraded from...
Read moreWe arrived at 1020am, in time to see the laksa stall packing up, still we managed to order the pork soup. My wife had the beehoon and i had the rice, i have to say yhe soup was very good. Not overly flavoursome, yet just nice... Pork and part on a bed of lettuce, the spleen was lovely but the small intestines is simply heavenly, it was so fresh there was a slight hint of bitter in the aftertaste. Unsurprising because the stall owner uses only the freshest ingredients, and we arrived just too late to taste the kidney and liver, maybe next time. And the kopi was simply superb, not overpowering... Just a sign of an experienced hand making the coffee, after all, this is one of Muar's oldest coffeeshops, just a different location but the same...
Read moreFound this place at last. Had vermicelli with their signature curry laksa. Thick gravy with fresh prawns, cockles and other ingredients. Enjoyed from start to end with iced coffee. Good service. Clean toilet and dining area inside available as well near beverage preparation area.
