In Desaru, they say when you think of seafood, it will be definitely Jade Garden. This marked my second time coming to this restaurant with the first being in 2016 with my car club. Spacious, right next to the sea with abundance of seafood to choose from... parking also aplenty.
Specialising in seafood especially lobster, I can literally see lobster on each table as I walked in... Big or small. But lobsters were not the only choice as mud crabs, fish, fresh oysters, clams, geoducks, etc filled the water tanks for you to choose.
Famished and excited, we quickly placed our orders
◾baked lobster in homemade sauce - freshness is almost guaranteed as they picked live lobsters on the spot to cook for you. ◾Baked scallop with garlic, spring onion and tong fun ◾Steamed sea snail - the best way to taste the original flavour of the snails. ◾Kam heong clams - combination of flavours and fresh clams made this dish enjoyable ◾Chilly crab - another popular dish at this restaurant, we opted for chilly sauce and proceed to polish everything on the plate including the sauce. ◾Fried kuey teow - as the young ones didn't know how to appreciate seafood, this place of carbs easily satisfied their tummy.
As I ordered, they had just taken delivery of the huge and delicious french bread crab but since we could not eat that much, we had to discard the thought.
Located about 30 minutes from Desaru Coast, I'd reckon to drive down just for the seafood as the journey was worth it. Everyone was happy when we finally finished everything and went back...
Read moreCoupled of weeks ago, I was planning for a short getaway for my wife's birthday. After researching, I noted that Jade Garden Seafood Corner is the ideal place. I started to communicate with Mr Jack of Jade Garden seafood and made a request for Mentis Prawn which my wife have been craving for. Apparently, it is not the season for Mentis Prawns. However, after going thru much efforts, Jack was able to secure 3 good sizes of mentis Prawn for us. Jack had contacted all the fisherman that he knew in Pengerang to buy the mentis Prawn for us and he managed to buy 3 for me the afternoon of 27 Jan just before my arrival at hos resturant. My wife was so appreciative for Jack's effort.
While at the restaurant, the staff were very professional and the food was very nice. Special shout out to Jing Xian and the captain 好姐. They gave us very good advices on what food to order for 2 persons. When we over ordered, they advised us to order again if we still find not enough after our meal. They were correct!!!!! If we were to insist on our orders, we will not be able to finish and they really took good care of my stomach and wallet. 🤣🤣🤣. My wife had one of the best birthday celebration at Jade Garden Seafood Corner. We will be back to the resturant with my family members the next time. Good job to Jack, Jing...
Read moreAfter the celebrity hype, I couldn’t help but make my way here on one of my trips into Johore on a weekday evening to sample its wares. I wasn’t disappointed.
The kitchen obviously knew what it was doing, dishing up standard zichar fare with aplomb and skill. Their Four Treasures Beancurd was a delightful study of textures, colour and flavour, as was the jade-green and crunchy vegetable stir-fry. Even the humble egg omelette with pickled radish was well considered with its satisfying balance of flavours and generous wokhei.
It would be a sin not to order any seafood, so we resorted to a deep-fried baby squid. Coated enjoyably with a sweet, sticky, spicy dark soy sauce, this demonstrated the cook’s understanding of time and temperature when working with such small morsels of flesh.
Except for the passionfruit drink, which smacked of store-bought mediocrity and an unpleasant taste of artificial sweetener, the soursop and coconut tasted fresh and natural.
What we ordered was probably best for three because both of us were stuffed by the time we finished everything. The total bill was RM120, a tad pricey for most. Yet, there’s no denying that the cooks know how to treat their food. I’d likely return with a larger party to savour more...
