A lil maze to start as directions not aplenty after the signboard from the mainroad - did not think it would be situation within the vicinity of Jade Garden.
Parking aplenty especially on a hot Sunday afternoon where patrons flock in for lunch and pics.
By the entrance the stagnant sea water is rather unpleasing to the eyes, despite some poor fish(s) swimming about.
The cafe is cooling generally but gets warmer nearer to the extended area where the permanent awning and floor to ceiling windows are. The rustic cement flooring invites/ tempts one to walk barefoot on the cold surface.
Service by staffs are awesome. There are like minions, walking around everywhere, serving, clearing tables, attending to guests and even perform a magic coin trick - courtesy by Bang Alif~ đđť
When it comes to food, the Ahma's Bowl is tasty! The crispy chilli on the side when stirred in with the rice triggers the palate in every munch. The chicken is tender, not too oily and not too dry, it was just right.
Full complimentary takes a step back for the Sunday Fish Out. Whilst the inside is moist and tender, falling off the fork in softness, the batter however was way too hard. It gives the writer a sore jaw and a paining back tooth. With the juices from 2 slices of lemon, the sour acidic saliva inducing moment gave the meal a rather appetising sensation with the tartar sauce.
The cafe is good with caffeine. The Gula Melaka Latte with its rim laced with coconut shavings is a tasty meal starter and thirst quencher. The aaahhhh moment in every gulp. But the Off Duty Mermaid...went off duty with its taste. To the writer it is just a sparkling slightly sweet redish orangy drink.
Dessert time! The picturesque Milk Mochi is to nice and crunchy and much enjoyed at the early few bites till the next dessert came the and took the spotlight.
The Pu'Er Tiramisu has a general coating of cocoa powder layered with savoury cream and soft sponge cakes makes the writer say, Tir-A-Misssss-Uuuu
The atmosphere is a lil too loud and noisy for the writer's liking, it actually took me quite a while sitting in here typing this out on the phone as I was distracted by loud shrieks, tantrums, but also I am guilty on eavesdropping on the neighbour's loud chats - I am guilty of stereotyping people. đ¤
All in all, a pleasant time the writer had at the Yard & Co Cafe. Will return with family and friends hopefully in the...
Read moreif you had an eye đď¸, you can see the stars that i had rated this restaurant, having both good and bad points if you are expecting more.
the location is great for taking photos of the sea, perfect for instagram posts.
the interior design is simple and aesthetic, plus with the christmas decorations, it is also perfect for instagram shots too
the drinks are not bad. however the lattes might be a little too bitter for my taste buds. i recommend the earl grey milk tea for tea lovers like me
for the mains, we ordered the teriyaki chicken rice and the smoked duck aglio. the teriyaki chicken rice is not bad, but it could be less salty and the sauce can be reduced by a little. the smoked duck aglio is good, the noodles are spicy and cooked to al dante, and the smoked duck has a good amount of saltiness and smoky taste.
we also ordered appetisers such as the sweet potato fries and the crispy spicy squid. the sweet potato fries are not bad, having crispy batter and soft potatoes but the sour cream on the side had no sour taste to it. the squid is also not bad, being surprisingly sweet and crispy, just lacking a little bit of salt.
we ordered the double chocolate hangover, puâer tiramisu and the ice cream waffles. the double chocolate hangover is very sweet but the amount of chocolate sauce on the side might be quite overkill. the puâer tiramisu is not bad, but i do not taste any puâer in the tiramisu. lastly, the waffles and ice cream is good, with a side of banana and nuts for texture and flavour.
however, if you also had another eye đď¸, you can also see that this doesnt is not a very cheap restaurant as well, costing us 260RM or 76SGD.
in addition, the service is also quite slow, maybe due to understaffing issues.
overall, it is a good destination to take photos and try the food...
Read moreThe food is really nice. Especially sunbathing menu. This was my second time coming here, and I recommend to my family members to try this. Also, the mochi milk is superb! There is no problem with the taste. However I feel they way they serve and prepare food is the worse. They are using storehub POS, but they simply do what ever they want to do first. We waited for 50minutes for the first drink to arrive, 55 mins for the first dish to arrive and 10minutes later another drinks. The workers send food to table by not using any tray, which makes they took longer time because they need to get to the counter again to take items one by one. This is so not efficient. I went there with my family, which total 4 of us. The last dish came about 1hour and 30minutes later. That is also because I told and ask them where is the last food. They didnt prepare the food accordingly and settle by the tables. The next table who came later than us, by the time we almost finish gets their food at least 15minutes after they order. Also kiasu people who ordered through the counter ever they already prepare the QR, is soooo messed up! We just stay because we paid for the food by using the QR order if not I might ask my family to leave. I really hope they will improve this in the future, to do orders accordingly and find a solution for their workers send food to the tables more efficiently. I also try to make myself understand the situation, but there is limit too when see other customers get the other while our table didnt get the orders as other tables get. I am in F&B industry too, so I hope they understand why I was mad because of the situation. Because things can be fix but they...
