Among the many breakfast spots to choose from, we decided on KHNG KEE Bak Kut Teh, a place that was recommended online by the locals. TLDR: it lived up to the popularity.
We arrived around 9:15 am. While the shop was crowded, we still managed to get our table without having to wait.
The ordering was simple - you just tell the aunty the portion size you want, and that's it. We ordered a portion for 3 people for the two of us, fearing that the portion for 2 would have been insufficient. We could probably have added more specific requests, but we settled for the default "mix-mix" (掺掺) option, as we are fine with offal. The price was also surprisingly affordable. For all that we ordered, it cost us no more than RM20 for each person. This, along with the taste of the food, make this a place that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys...
Read moreRight opposite St. Andrews Catholic Church is an unassuming shop bustling with Chinese customers. The decoration is nondescript, but the delicious taste speaks for itself to attract so many people.
The bakuteh broth is so fragrant and rich. Each spoonful feels like home. Filled to the brim with meatballs, you tiao, pork belly, and more! so yummy. Pair with their delicious yam rice and it's such a hearty meal.
But I'm not a big fan of their kopi which uses coffee bags.
When you go to their toilet you can see how their kitchen operates haha. Toilet is a squat btw and quite smelly, but it's decent enough with toilet paper.
