An impromptu trip to quaint Muar or âMuoâ per the locals, brought us first to this small gem of a restaurant as one wonât be able to miss its vibrant yellow and red signboard featuring also a photo of (perhaps) Hjh Milah herself! We went for the mee bandung udang galah special and rojak tempe. The gravy of our mee bandung is laden-filled with tastes of the sea (plenty of ground dried shrimps and blended parts of fresh prawns). It is sufficiently runny, enough for a good slurp and pleasantly soured from pastes of fresh tomatoes. The udang galah - I would like to think the restaurant gets its seafood supply from the nearby Selat Melaka as the prawns are plump and juicy. My only small feedback for this mee bandung is, for the added egg to have a runny yolk so to give the gravy a creamier taste. The rojak tempe is interesting. The tempe is really the âtoppingsâ of the rojak dish, which consists of mainly fried tofu, sprouts and kangkung. The star of the dish is really the rojak paste or sauce which has a good balance of the prawnsâ heads paste, (chilli) spice and other condiments. I myself would prefer it to be perhaps a bit less sweet and more spicy but overall it is still a...
Read moreI was excited to try Mee Bandung Hajah Milah in Muar City Center based on the reviews, but sadly, it was quite disappointing. We ordered the Mee Bandung Udang Special (RM20), Mee Kari Kerang Special (RM12) and Rojak Tauhu Putih (RM7). The gravies were very watery (cair) and lacked the rich flavor we were expecting. As for the rojak, it was equally disappointing and did not stand out in any way. It definitely did not live up to the hype from other reviews.
The prices were on the higher side, which we wouldnât mind if the food was delicious, but unfortunately, it didnât meet our expectations. Additionally, the restaurant had a lot of flies, which made the dining experience uncomfortable.
I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and improves on the food quality and cleanliness, as it has so...
Read moreFood was not bad but the guy servicing us had an attitude problem. He was not interested in taking orders....had to tell him 4 times what we wanted before he acknowledged and looked at us. When we didn't order drinks, he rolled his eyes and gave us a rude comment where it is very unusual not to order drinks insinuating we couldnt pay for it. He shouldn't be a waiter nor a front liner. That's probably the reason why the shop had no customers despite the food being quite good! Management should give the...
