Not my first time trying Hua Mui but first time in this branch and first time trying their Hainanese fried Chicken chop.
The food was served in a reasonable time. Food portion was also big. However, the taste of the oil’s rancid smell on the chicken chop was very heavy. Can tell the oil have been repeatedly fried for many times. Mind you, this was 11am when I was there.
Other than that, environment was clean and hygiene. Service wise the aunty was very nice. The only thing that annoyed me was the staff standing near the counter as you can see from the photo playing with her phone watching video loudly. Read moreFinally, I visited the Anggerik branch recently (no need to queue). I specifically came for their noodle dish, which brought back nostalgic memories of how my mum used to cook it when I was younger. The dark soy sauce gravy paired with yellow noodles was simple yet flavorful, nothing fancy, but definitely tasty. However, at Hua Mui, I found the gravy a bit too wet; reducing it slightly would make it perfect.
My wife opted for the grilled chicken chop, which was nicely cooked, tender and just right in flavor. The highlight of our meal was the coffee, it was rich, aromatic, and absolutely amazing.
Overall, a great spot for a comforting meal. I will return for the other...
Read moreThis is supposed to be a famous shop in JB town and it always has a long queue. Oh god, is this the level of food they're serving? I really hope tourists don't eat here and think this is the condition of JB food. The nasi lemak was just terrible, old stale rice and the sambal tasted really bad, RM2 roadside nasi lemak tastes much better. And the english breakfast, frozen wedges tastes better, canned red beans, soggy scrambled eggs. It just tasted like a plate of bad foods all in one. Never going to eat here...
