Read moreThis restaurant located in a house (hence their name right?) in Kampung Baru Sg Chua has been around for many years. Known for their reasonable prices and large portions, they have their fair share of faithful patrons.
I haven’t been there for many years myself and decide to give it a try again. I saw a photo of their new signature dish “Lai Sar Yee” or Sandy Fish and ordered it. The version I’ve had at other places was made with butter and milk cooked down until dry granules emerge (hence the sandy texture). The version here was served with julienned carrots, cucumber and peanut granules. This is more akin to Thai style Kerabu. It’s ok but it’s not the Lai Sar Yee in my books.
Their Sweet Sour Pork was a little sweet but far from sour. I chose to have it in a yam basket which was decent and with crispy Bihun noodles to soak up the gravy too.
Sizzling Japanese Tofu and Sweet Potato leaves with garlic were just average.
Overall food is average to decent. Don’t expect anything extraordinary here and...
Read moreWe went there after going to The Acres.
It is a corner house right in the middle of a chinese new village. The place is big hence adequate seatings and can cater for larger crowds.
The list of items is huge!! So many items. 🤭🤭. I ordered 4 items and here is the verdict:
The portion is big. Satisfyingly big.
The taste is homestyle cooking. Slightly salty but overall still taste good.
The lady who serve us is very very kind and accomodating. Even offered us some soup but we are just too full to take up the offer. 😫😫😫
And the best part is, the PRICE!! Surprisingly low. 4 dishes(chicken, tofu, egg, vege) plus a huge pot of tea, 2 mountain of rice and 1 soft drink. Coulsnt even break the RM 60 mark. Mind you food cost is high nowadays. 🤯.
Overall: Worth the time, and visit. Dont bring any expectations and enjoy the...
