One of the Best Halal Chinese Muslim Restaurants in Bangi!
I’ve been coming to Mohd Chan Bangi for a few years now, and I can confidently say it’s still one of the best spots in the area for authentic Chinese Muslim cuisine. Whether you’re dining with family, entertaining guests, or just craving something hearty and halal — this place never disappoints.
🍽️ Food The menu is extensive, and everything I’ve tried so far has been flavorful, consistent, and nicely portioned. Their Yee Mee with Ginger Beef is my absolute favorite — the gravy is thick, the noodles springy, and the beef is always tender. The Butter Chicken is another must-try: crispy outside, juicy inside, coated in creamy, savory sauce that goes perfectly with white rice.
They also do a really good Seafood Fried Rice, Salted Egg Squid, and Sizzling Tofu. Oh — and don’t miss the hot and sour soup and tom yam if you’re in the mood for something spicy. Portions are generous, so it's ideal for sharing.
🍤 Dim Sum While it’s not a full dim sum specialty place, their halal version of steamed siu mai, dumplings, and fried wontons are a nice touch. You can enjoy the essence of Chinese cuisine without worrying about non-halal ingredients like pork or alcohol-based sauces.
🥤 Drinks Standard drinks selection — they have the usual iced lemon tea, lime juice, fresh juices and teh tarik. Everything is served quickly and is reasonably priced.
🪑 Ambience Comfortable and clean interior with both air-conditioned and semi-open seating options. It’s casual enough for everyday dining but also neat enough for small gatherings or business lunch meetings. They also have private dining areas available for groups.
👨👩👧👦 Family-Friendly This place is great for families. They have kids’ meals, high chairs, and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. Even when the restaurant is packed, the service stays efficient.
💰 Pricing Very fair for the quality and portions you get. Dishes generally range from RM12 to RM30+, with seafood dishes being a bit pricier. But for a Chinese Muslim restaurant with such consistent quality, it’s worth it.
🕒 Service I’ve dined in, taken away, and even ordered via GrabFood, and the experience has always been smooth. Staff are polite, attentive, and the food usually arrives within 10–15 minutes even on busy nights.
🚗 Parking Located in a busy area (Jalan Medan Pusat 2C), but there’s ample parking nearby especially after office hours and weekends. Still, come early if you’re planning to dine during peak hours.
💬 Final Verdict: If you're looking for a halal Chinese restaurant in Bangi that delivers quality, variety, and a family-friendly experience, Mohd Chan is a solid choice. It’s the kind of place you can keep coming back to without getting bored. Highly recommended — especially for those who miss Chinese-style food but need...

One of the highlights of my visit was the delectable spread of dishes I had the opportunity to try. The classic butter prawn was simply divine. The prawns were perfectly cooked and coated with a rich and creamy butter sauce that had a hint of sweetness. Each bite was packed with flavor, and the dish left me craving for more.
Another standout dish was the Szechuan chicken. The chicken was tender and succulent, and the Szechuan sauce had the perfect balance of spiciness and savory flavors. It provided a satisfying kick without overwhelming the taste buds. It's a dish I would highly recommend to those who enjoy a bit of heat in their meals.
The broccoli scallop was a delightful surprise. The combination of fresh broccoli florets and succulent scallops was a match made in culinary heaven. The dish was beautifully presented and had a delightful blend of textures and flavors. It provided a refreshing and nutritious addition to the meal.
One of the highlights of the evening was the steamed Thai style Siakap (fish). The fish was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. Read moreI had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at Mohd Chan Restaurant! I’ve tried my fair share of Chinese restaurants, but this one truly stands out — the flavours here are incredibly authentic and memorable.
We started off with the 9-piece dim sum platter, and wow — it was delicious! Each piece had that perfect springy texture and was beautifully crafted. The condiments were spot on too, especially the chili sauce — it had a nice kick that really elevated the flavours.
For our main meal, we went with the 4–5 pax set, which came with a hearty bowl of crab soup, stir-fried vegetables with beancurd, sweet and sour barramundi (siakap), Szechuan-style chicken, and five plates of rice. The soup kicked things off perfectly — rich, flavourful, and comforting. I could taste both real and imitation crab, and there was a bit of dried seafood (maybe scallop or shrimp?) that gave the broth an extra depth. The consistency was just right — not too thick, not too watery.
The Szechuan chicken was another highlight. You could really taste the Szechuan pepper — it wasn’t overly spicy, but it had a nice, tingling heat that built up gently. The veggies were fresh and crunchy, and the fried beancurd added a lovely contrast in both texture and flavour.
But the showstopper for me was definitely the sweet and sour barramundi. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the sauce was beautifully balanced — tangy, slightly sweet, and so addictive.
The portion sizes were generous across the board — definitely great value for money. It’s no surprise that this place gets so many glowing reviews. Keep up the amazing work, Mohd Chan team — I’ll definitely be...
