Super Saigon is one of those Vietnamese restaurant chains that is everywhere around KL and their surrounding area, yet mostly non-existent outside of it. As proof, almost none of my colleagues have heard of the name before. So, them opening an outlet here is certainly an exciting thing for us Bangians.
To be honest, I myself have never eaten in any of the Super Saigon outlets before. So this is my first time feasting here. As a graphic designer, I know most people don't really care about these kinds of stuff, but I quite like their esthetics and branding overall. It doesn't scream franchise, but rather a higher quality restaurant (even though it's not).
We actually tried their new promotional dishes. Mine is the Sichuan Mala Fried Rice, and my friend ordered the Sichuan Mala Beef Pho. The thing that I liked about the service was that for my order, they actually warned me that I will be waiting for quite a bit (they said it's because the meat has just arrived) before ordering. I went ahead and ordered anyway because I'm fine with waiting, as long as they informed me.
I think it's quite okay. I mean, it's a little too salty (this coming from a guy who loves savoury food), but other than that it's good la. The whole dish is plenty, and the meat portions are quite generous.
The beef pho is also quite good. Although fair warning, do not order the spicy one unless you're a big fan of hot spicy food. Otherwise you might not even be able to finish it. The broth itself is decent, albeit with that little bit of spiciness (or plenty, depending on the level you asked).
Overall, the place is decent enough. Will probably come back later to try other...

Read moreA couple of weeks ago I ordered the meatball pho + rice paper rolls set and Sichuan mala beef dry noodle through grabfood but upon arrival there was no rice paper roll to be found. I had received a message from a staff named Asmadi asking if we had missing order I told him we didn't receive the paper rolls so he asked for my location and about half and hour later I got the paper rolls.
Thank you so much to Asmadi and Super Saigon Bangi for being so considerate and efficient. Your service is top notch.
As for the food, the pho was nice and comforting as always. The paper rolls were delicious and my favorite was the Sichuan beef noodles. If you like mala dry pot, you should definitely go for this. It's satisfyingly spicy...
