The Mechanic Cafe — Restaurant in Kajang Municipal Council

On 5th July 2018 (Thursday), my mum and a few friends of hers went to MECHANIC CAFE @ TRADER SQUARE CHERAS for tea around 3pm. The attached receipt shows the food that they have ordered.

Initially, when they are done placing their orders, payment of RM 62 was immediately made at the counter by one of them, even before they get a table. They then proceed to the table and enjoy their food and their gathering session.

Before they leave, the one who has made the payment earlier went to the washroom and another friend of my mum went to the counter and pay the bill because she thought no payment were made initially.

She then came back with a new receipt of RM58. Her friend who went to the toilet came back and she was so surprised that another payment was actually made.

Hence, they immediately went to the counter and asked for refund. The staff has apologised (not in a very sincere way) and at the same time returning the RM58. When they compared the bill, they noticed there is a different of RM 4 between two bills. Second confrontation to the staff was regards to the SALAD PRICE. FRUIT SALAD WAS RM 14 and SIGNATURE SALAD WAS RM10. They again return the money without showing any sign of guilty.

The receptionist (the same person who do the checkout initially) actually collected two payments, and the total bill was actually different in amount.

This behaviour of the receptionist, be it he is a staff or the owner of the cafe is totally unacceptable. There are a few points we would like to raise in this scenario:

Would it be even possible that, in their billing system, there is no indication that their customers have already made their payment and that a second billing is even allowed?

How could the first billing price differ from the second billing price? When this question was raised to the receptionist, he did not show much concern and didn't even bother much to check why did that happened.

How could it be possible that the food ordered was not shown in the system and two bills showed different item, are they intentionally charging people twice or they have really bad system?

We are not intending to defame any party in this long post, however we hope that anyone who plans to visit the cafe would be more careful with this matter. If the management of the cafe has no intention of improving their services and/or system, then double billing or changing the price of the item would frequently happen if one is not careful enough.

We hope they will be more honest or at least be more competent in serving their customers next time....

Finale on the Semenyih trip Part IV

With some extra time to kill before calling it a day, the young ones wanted to go to a cafe for drinks and chill out 😅 since one family lives in Cheras, they suggested a cafe in Balakong which serves good coffee.

Perfect! Just what the adult need after a long day on the road. The trip back to Cheras was a quick one using LEKAS Highway - we found ourselves arriving in less than 30 minutes.

The Mechanic Cafe is located on the first floor of a corner shop unit, making it very spacious and bright with their floor-to-ceiling glass utilising the natural sunlight. However there is not much of nice views unless you like watching buildings, passing cars and people walking by 🤣

◾Pure - a simple name for their classic and crispy waffle which is perfect match for their vanilla ice cream, housemade coffee caramel sauce, granola & berries. ◾Popcorn chicken - options for spicy/non-spicy + served with garlic aioli ◾Homemade mashed potato - the itchy daughter loved the savoury gravy. ◾Burnt cheesecake - quite nice to pair with our coffee. ◾Filtered coffee aka V60 - perfect way to extract the best flavour out of the beans. ◾Drink options suit the young to the old - matcha latte, iced black, iced latte, flat white, and even juice.
