华宝楼 Hwa Poh Lou Restaurant Sdn Bhd — Restaurant in Kedah

This restaurant is undeniable one of the best and also one of the popular wedding venue in town. Surrounded by elegant ambience and decor, definitely a great place to celebrate an event.

Aside from their famous Dim Sum, (which I haven’t tried, haha) this restaurant also offers a huge selection of Chinese dishes.

Went for lunch, huge selection from menu, was quite difficult to choose. Ordered a few to try but wasn’t quite outstanding, especially the Claypot Pork with Salted Fish, it was a lil too salty from the taste of salt instead of salted fish. The Peanut Soup dessert was very sweet.

Will take a chance to try their Dim Sum and other dishes. Fast and friendly service....

This is one of the best restaurants in Alor Setar, in terms of food quality and ambiance. This restaurant serves dimsum in the morning and provides lunch and dinner menu after that. Generally food is above average, we often come here because of the ambiance. Nice interior deco and also air conditioned. Dimsum is nice, not many varieties. At least the ingredients are fresh most of the time. The fried noodles like tai lok mee and char yin yong were our usual orders.

A very comfortable venue, clean and offers a different standard of chinese fine dining experience; it is a hidden gem in Alor Setar. The prawns were big and fresh, all the portions served are relatively big, home made tofu was very smooth, braised pork knuckles was not too fat, flavourful and tender enough to break apart, the stir fry bittergourd with egg was refreshing, tomyam soup was not too spicy or over-powering.
