Although surrounded by a pedestrian and uninteresting view clearly seen through the casement windows encircling the dining area, the taste and smells of our breakfast brought me back to being in an M&S or Debenhams cafe in the UK.
Feeling rather ravenous, we opted for two Mansion 28 Big Breakfast and one Smoked Duck Affair.
The Big Breakfast, a perfectly cooked omelette with just the right amount of runniness, a pair of medium-sized sausages, two slices of chicken ham, a slice of bread, and decently dressed salad surely hit the right spot to start the day!
As for the other dish, nestled delicately on slices of smoked duck and sliced croissant, the two poached eggs definitely had me wanting more!
The hazelnut latte, however, was a bit underwhelming. It was good, but seemed to be missing something. The kids, however, did enjoy the hot chocolate.
We went for the tiramisu which was not only pleasing to the eye but also satisfied our taste buds. Will be trying other cakes on our next visit.
Unlike chain cafes, this establishment is definitely a welcome change. Dining area is roomy and bright, simple yet welcoming.
Location-wise, definitely a plus. Being located outside of the heart of Alor Setar and away from foot traffic, it is definitely the place to have a delectable, relaxing English breakfast. Definitely a hidden gem...
Read moreThis café is my first stop when I arrived in Alor Setar by train during the recent CNY period as it is located just a stone throw away from the station. I can say the food here is top notch as equivalent to the KL standards. The same goes to the cakes and coffee, as they are really delicious and of high quality. Price wise is on the higher side for Alor Setar standards and nothing to complain as they are one of the top hipster café in town after Diem etc as they were frequented by Kedah royalties, VVIPs and influential personalities. The menu is simple with very limited choice which I believe the establishment is trying to focus on what they do best and keeping the overheads low. Portion wise they are considered generous IMHO with decent drinks selection consist of some funky stuff that you can explore i.e matcha + asam boi (chacamboi), matcha + coconut milk + blueberry (non symphony). Service aspects can be improved as it can be quite a wait during festive periods. I would definitely put a 5 star if you address the parking woes as it can be extremely difficult to get parking especially on the festive/peak period. For the management, just keep it up with the standards and kudos for maintaining...
Read moreDon’t make me start. It is one of the best restaurants / cafes in Alor Setar. The menu is giving brunch for me and only several items are on it. The prices can be classified as mid range expansive (RM20+) but to be fair it serves duck, salmon etc. The interior is very pretty, its giving modern / minimalist / earthy kind of vibe. Came in at 11 am and it is very quiet and peaceful. After that, the cafe is very busy.
I had the smoked duck croissant with their signature salad. The duck goes very well with the croissant. The salad is so amazing. The dressing is just different in a very good way and perfect with the duck. Also had a burnt cheesecake and a vanilla latte. The cake is moist but a little bit dense I guess, but its good. Overall, 5/5 and will absolutely...
