A long time childhood haunt of some relatives of mine staying around the area. A recent visit to the relative nearby brought me here early one morning and I popped by just after nine hoping to score something from this place.
To my surprise, I was given a deceptively small bowl with a portion of khawan and knuckle bone. A rare treat that's usually sold out early in the morning. Most likely from a regular that didn't show up for the morning I came by. The meat is still as tender and flavourful. It was indeed a real treat with the very thick and flavourful herb tinged broth. The early brunch was made complete with a glass of high quality iced Chinese tea. Even the tea, made from good quality oolong tea leaves was just right for rinsing down the greasy feel from your palate after the meal. Meat, broth, rice and most of all the service and atmosphere, very delightful and superbly presented. The senior operator who manages the big pot and preparing each bowl of the BKT, the juniors who assisted and served every bowl to each customer, perfect!
6.30am, already very crowded at weekend and public holidays, definitely fast-selling, weekdays should be better. As the saying goes "the early birds ger thd food", get ready to be disappointed anytime after 8.30am weekend/PH and 9.00am for weekdays.
