food is really tasty but so what? there are a couple of others around the block that wouldn't make us want to vomit blood over trying to get the attention of the service staff.
will never come back here again because of the anti-service received... the 1 waiter & 1 captain were doing their best pretending we (7pax) were not there. they consistently ignored us from the moment we arrived til we paid and left. did we smell bad or something?
there were only 3 other table of customers (2pax+2pax+3pax), so avoiding us meant he had to keep going back into the kitchen to hide every time we needed to catch his attention...which was not often, just:- to ask for cups & water flask to take our orders where is condiments for naan? add rice pay bill. the 2 guys dodged us a couple of times before we managed to get our orders taken.
the cups & waterflask request were ignored. so we went to the next table to grab whatever we needed from there, including spoons/forks/serviettes.
food took over 40mins waiting time and 2 other tables were almost finished eating their meals by the time ours arrived. it was just 2x same rice sets, some naan breads & 2 side dish of fish & chicken. the plain naan, when it finally came in a basket was without dhal/curry. hv to chase them for the condiments. asking to add rice also took forever. we got so fed up waiting for that 1 extra bowl rice that we just ate the spicy side dishes without rice. after we're almost done eating, they decided to put rice on our table. wanted to tell him we dont want it but he dissapeared into the kitchen again like a ghost.
payment also the same....
Read moreHad dinner at Anjappar Chettinad in Bangsar for the very first time. Clean and cozy ambience. Surprisingly all food that was ordered was really hot and this was a pleasant surprise as I am getting used to be served luke warm or cold food in most other similar restaurants.
The vegetarian banana leaf portion was generous. I liked that the rice was served separate in a bowl, so I could help myself to the amount I could eat. Really great varieties of vegetables. Dhal, rasam and yoghurt felt like I was eating home cooked food.
Ordered the dry Mutton dish. Amazingly soft, generous portions of mutton, hardly any fat and most delicious.
Topped up the meal with a Falooda dessert shared with my friend. Specifically requested for less sugar. When the dessert arrived I was surprised to find that they actually complied with my request. For the first time it was a delicious mix of fresh fruits and vanilla icecream topped with an orange sauce that gave the falooda a tangy taste. Very very Nice!
The manager in charge of the restaurant was a quiet but efficient gentleman looking out to ensure all customers were well served. Well Done to him. Unfortunately I did not get his name. Over all a satisfying meal and I will definitely go there again when I get the urge to eat authentic south...
Read moreWent to this restaurant via a recommendation from an elderly gentleman. Visited during CNY, place wasn't packed and less than half tables seated. The one taking orders was the manager, he was polite and answered whatever inquiries my acquaintances brought up. Place felt like I was back in the 2000's. Food: Anjappar Reg Meal: Banana Leaf meal, the rice and everything was separately served which was a bit weird. Chicken curry was good spicy and the veggies go well. The rest of the plates go well together mixed minus the rassam, only complaint rice felt a bit watery not as fluffy. Mutton Paya Kuruma: Highlight of my meal, first glance looked like a overcooked shank but when I touched the bone, it immediately fell from the meat. The part is just filled with melting fats and the kuruma is flavourful and delicious. Gobi 65: the cauliflower was separated to bits and the end result it tasted like chicken but the structure of the cauliflower is still there.
Chicken dishes don't remember their names but the dried was pretty good. The other gravy was okay but the chicken breast some was a bit overcooked.
Overall satisfying and the prices aren't too bad for Bangsar. Would come back to try other dishes...
