The Baan Thai restaurant on Pudu Ulu Street is a restaurant with Chinese and Thai cuisine options, not a Thai restaurant with pure Thai cuisine. In addition to spicy Thai dishes, there are also a variety of Chinese food options, but the difference is that the taste is not purely Chinese. The total number of options in the menu is estimated to be from dozens to hundreds, which is dizzying! According to store staff, this restaurant is owned by the same restaurant group as Baan Thai 2 Seafood & Thai Cuisine Restaurant in Kuchai Lama Street, Kuala Lumpur. At that time, the Thai staff could only communicate with me in Thai and a few words of broken English or Malay, so I can not understand the truth of Tai's statement and could not tell whether it was true or false. But according to my own judgment, it is still undecidable. We, 7 people in our group chose several dishes, including: "BBQ Pork Stick", "Steam Tilapia Fish w/ Spicy Lime", "Deep Fried Calamari", "Stir Fried Water Spinach w/ Belacan (shrimp paste)", "Fried Duck Egg", "White Seafood Tom Yam Soup", and some drinks. The food in this restaurant is well cooked and tastes to our taste. Although the layout of the restaurant is not very elegant (please refer to the photo), the simple restaurant, which is about eight meters wide and more than ten meters long, has a lot of diners seated at about 60 to 70 tables, as you can imagine. We will come back to satisfy our appetite if we have another chance in the...

I was recommended by friends to dine at this place due to its authenticity - and it was not bad at all! Servers and staff were all Thai nationality and are super friendly.

Food wise, we ordered Tom Yum seafood soup, some green veggies and the cockles appetiser starter. The cockles were huge and fresh, so worth the money. Food wise, for dinner, it was okay. The tom yum soup was not spicy at all, perfect for non-spicy food lovers.

The environment could be better and it was not helping that their next door neighbour was drilling and conducting construction works during dinner time (way past 8pm). Parking around the area was not the most convenient, so I would recommend to go early to beat the crowd, both at the shop and at the...

The last time I was at the iconic Char Siew Yoong across the road, I was drawn by the aroma of pork leg braising in an aromatic broth across the road at Baan Thai. I made a note to visit this place and I finally got around to it today. I wasn’t wrong - the Braised Pork Leg was worth the trip here. Melt in your mouth pork fat and the meat falls apart at the touch of your fork. The braising liquid is thick, aromatic and flavourful. This is highly recommended. My only complaint was that the portion size of pork leg was on the small side for the price - RM19.90. Either reduce the price or increase the portion size? The side dishes of Braised Intestines and Fried Crispy Pork Skin were good. Pandan Water was refreshing.

Visited on: 8 Jun 2025 Authentic Thai style yet small portion thai dishes for 5 pax. For me, it slight salty even has requested to less salty. Best, the ingredients are so fresh, like their north style moo bing, it like spices in the meat and grilled it, spice fragrant spreading in your mouth. Guess Famous is grilled talapia as the tanks has more than 10 live talapias. Thai dishes must order grilled Octopus, consume together with special chilies sour and spicy in your mouth and chewing the octopus that's great.
