Came here for a gathering with friends and lecturers in July and here are my thoughts on this place! We got 3 different dishes to share together. ( reservations needed for secure seats)
Food 🍲
-H8 Elicoidali & Black Truffle Cream Mozzarella "Cheese Fondue"
I love this dish SO much, the pan crisped tube pasta gave it a nice texture while the "fondue" gave a very soft, creamy and stretchy taste to it.
It was not overly creamy or salty, well balanced seasoning and I have observed that a lot of my friends and lecturers took frequent serving from this dish! it's almost like we are racing to eat more of it!
Definitely recommend to try this if you are coming here for the first time!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
-C16 Sun Dried Tomato & Bacon Gnocchi
I picked this dish because I wanted to try gnocchi and it stated that its " spicy" ( it wasnt, tho there is a slight kick but nothing else ). Which as a spicy lover it's definitely quite disappointing.
The tomato flavour pops out more for this dish, gnocchi wise was pretty chewy but also soft, nothing too special about this dish, would personally skip this dish the next time i'm over.
-R1 Forest Mushroom Risotto
Another one of my favourite dish recommended by one of my friend who came here to eat before and it was definitely surprising on how good it is.
its like eating congee but with just enough moisture to keep the food not too watery/ too thick. You can taste the mushroom earthy taste from this which is not a bad thing! Everything is well seasoned and my friends & lecturer also seems to love this dish a lot as well!
recommend this this as well!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Drinks 🍹
Virgin Strawberry Mojito
i love how this drink is very refreshing, slighty minty from the mint leaves as per usual for mojito drinks, taste slight acidic like soda but overall its not too sweet for me so its good.
As for their restaurant, there's definitely some improvement could be made for example the tables, they are quite shaky and some of the tables are different height and sizes so its a bit awkward to eat/drink comfortably.
As for the tables matter, the staff kindly attend to the issue and did use some paper to temporarily fix it which is great as well as attending to our questions about the seating area/ more plates/utensils. All their staffs are very friendly and accommodating.
Inside the restaurant can be quite humid especially the one table close to the kitchen, you can somewhat feel the heat from inside the kitchen. Not sure if the restaurant crowds is another main factor for it but hoping it could be a little more cold in the restaurant.
Theres also upstairs but would need to order wine to be seated upstairs.
Parking wise was a 50/50 especially on the weekends but overall its worth it to give this place a try...
Read moreVisited on a Wednesday night and reached at about 8:30 pm. Parking around the area was still difficult but that's cause they had the pasar malam (night market) ongoing. Still had to wait about 20 minutes for a table.
Food wise we ordered : Garlic Mushroom and chicken in hot pot. This was the second time we ordered this cause it's just that good. However, presentation this time did not include an actual pot like we had the first time. Not sure if this was cause it was nearing closing time.
Spaghetti pesto. First time getting this and it was good. Not too salty and portion was really large.
Spaghetti with soft shell crab. Soft shell crab was crunchy and when eaten together with the Spaghetti really worked. However, the Spaghetti on its own was nothing to shout about. I will say that the house pastas not being able to pick which type of pasta I prefer was quite a turn off. They offer fettuccine and penne too.
Drinks we had the tapping tapir guava and lemongrass which never fails. Also tried their elderflower berries mocktail which was very pretty and full of fruits. Quite sweet but refreshing.
However, I will say that their level of service was quite a turn off for me. It basically ruined my dining experience for me and that's why 2-star although their food was on-point.
Firstly, we only got our table at almost 9 pm. They did not tell us we had only till 10 pm to finish eating. Just as we were starting to eat, they had left the door open to start clearing and cleaning. Aside from that they turned off the music and only had the sound of outside traffic and the cling clang of utensils as they kept all their stuff, all the while the aircond was going out so the temperature in the restaurant was almost warm and uncomfortable.
Aside from that, halfway through my food and the waiter came to tell us we only had 5 minutes left. This meant that I had to pack my food to eat at home cause i wasn't done. Then, while still eating, the waiter kept trying to clear my plate. And lastly, at sharp 10 pm, they basically told us to leave, eventhough we were only finishing up our drinks. How rude can you be? Did you really just shoo us out of the restaurant with zero consideration? I have never been told to leave by an establishment like that. Is 5 additional minutes going to kill you? Why not allow us to actually enjoy the good food you put out in a nice dining experience?
Bill came up to RM 130 but I really feel it wasn't worth it. Please train your staff properly and have them be a little more...
Read moreBeen wanting to try the pasta here for quite some time after reading great reviews and hearing good things about it from friends. I never go to Kuchai Lama but tonight I decided to go through the traffic jam just to try this place out. Well, they were not kidding about the traffic and parking difficulties there (plus it was a Friday night). But, fortunately for us, after one round of searching, we found parking not far away from the restaurant. Once we reached, we followed the usual SOP and listed our names on the waiting list. Again, lucky us, we only had to wait for 5min as it was only me and my friend. First of all, the staff was very nice and welcoming. We ordered the pork sausage & smoked paprika pasta and the bacon & mushroom aglio olio. The dishes came soon after ordering. Fairly quick for a full house. So, cooking the pasta right (al dente) is definitely an important factor when you are deemed "the best pasta place" in Klang Valley. And they did just that. It was perfect. Taste wise, the aglio olio was really yummy and we noticed that their spaghetti was not the usual thickness like other restaurants. It was slightly thinner. But, that was good 'cos we actually wanted angel hair but they ran out. The pork sausage and smoked paprika pasta was equally good too but it was extra salty. Sausage was yummy tho. It had a prominent taste against the creamy texture of the sauce. Right after when we're done, the waiter took our plates right away which I thought was very attentive of them. The place is quaint and simple, just a little noisy with a big crowd on weekend. Didn't matter. When the bill came, it came to about RM80+ for 2 of us which was inclusive of hot honey lemon and cappuccino as well. It is pricey for just pasta and drinks and the ambience but the pasta didn't disappoint. So, I will definitely recommend it especially for a date or...
