It’s a rotary sushi restaurant. One of our friends recommended here, so we wanted to try. The price is great compared to other rotary sushi chains. It opens exactly at noon on weekdays. We arrived at the location around 10:50am, the sushi belt was already running with many sushi on it…. I am not sure why they made a lot of sushi more than one hour before they open the shop???

Right after we got a table, one of the waiter guys came to our table making a gesture of drinking something. I got what he meant was “what do you want to order for drink?”. But we did not even touch the menu yet. And he did not come back to ask us again later. It was a weird customer service, I thought.

In a sushi restaurant, I usually look for very simple nigiri like salmon, tuna, mackerel, eggs. The sushi menu was very limited for nigiri, instead a lot of Mayo-based items. There was one torched salmon nigiri, no tuna or mackerel, and tamago mentai was there on the belt. I did like tamago, torched salmon and unagi sushi. But I could not find much items I wanted to try other than them.

I made a mistake and ordered soba plate twice. They could not take it back, no negotiation was allowed.

Miso soup was way too big and watery.

So customer service was not really there. Very limited selection. Not flexible mind for diners. Some menus are good enough to try. And the price is great.

The location was about 15 - 20 mins walk away from Kuchai station. On the way, there was a part where no side walk exits. Without owning a car, we probably better get a Grab for safety.

To sum up, if you love Mayo-flavored sushi, or torched salmon, unagi, and tamago mentai, this place is...

One of the worst dining experience in sushi mentai..I found a dead insect (seems like a cockroach ) in my garlic fried rice. Of course, I complained right after and a man who looks seems to be the store manager apologized and promised to serve a new bowl of fried rice for me.

He promised a discount for the bill and the rice will be excluded from it. At first, I take it as a compensation and expected the discount to be somewhat high (20% or above) as I might have serious consequences consuming the dead bug.

However, I have to keep asking for an update on the rice as all my dishes that were meant to pair with it were cold already. In the end, it took them nearly 20 minutes to re prepare the a single fried rice 🥹 (Rice was only slightly warm when it arrived, meaning it was not served right away once its done).

When I pay the bill, I saw they exclude the fried rice (which they promised) and just a 10% discount which total up to only RM 4 discount (kinda disappointed). 10% after all that time wasted and almost consuming a bug, was expecting a better compensation but oh well.

Cleanliness was definitely not in the A category, please make sure your kitchen and tools are well cleaned before operating the...

My lunch at the Sushi Mentai outlet in Kuchai Lama was a pleasant experience overall. The restaurant itself is big and spacious, and the food is served incredibly fast.

While parking is a challenge in this area, you can easily find a spot by parking a bit further away at the backlane of the China supermarket street or on the main road, then taking a short walk into the bustling district. It's always a good idea to visit between 2 PM and 5 PM to skip the long queues, as it gets super busy during peak hours. I love watching the sushi belt, which is always filled with a great variety of options. You can also conveniently order exactly what you want by scanning the QR code at your table. My absolute favorite is the grilled salmon head, which is a fantastic deal at only RM9.90 for a huge, fresh portion. The Vietnamese spring rolls with salmon were also a highlight for me. The food portions are huge, generous, and very affordable. A little more friendliness from the staff and a focus on cleanliness would make this place even better, but it's still a great spot for a satisfying and...
