We just returned from this Sichuan restaurant for late lunch. ( we are 3 people, one Indonesian lady, one malaysian lady and one european gentleman). I am the Indonesian lady who write this review because I came to KL specifically to eat in this restaurant. Today we ordered :
Lamb satay : amazingly tender and delicious. Love the cumin spices. Ordered twice ( total 3 portions) because they were so good.
Lamb stir fry: the lamb was so hard almost like meat jerky/ dried meat. Perhaps it is costumary to use dried meat. Some cultures do that.
Pickled fish : was so good and has balanced taste.
Stir fry cabbage: simply amazing. The cabbage was so crunchy and naturally sweet.
Duck blood soup: was delicious, and the portion was surprisingly huge ( not big but huge)
Salted egg string bean: was delicious.
In overall the food were amazing, portion ware big ( I don't understand the review which complain about the portion was small).
The total bill was RM329, which we consider it cheap compare to the same speciality restaurant in Jakarta. With same amount of food we ordered today, in Jakarta the bill would cost at least RM550-RM600.
The restaurant was nice, clean and airy. Staff were also very friendly, we had some good laugh with the male staff.
We will definitely will return when we visit KL again.
Just a small note about toilet, although it was very clean, both toilet were squatting old fashion toilet. For eldery or chubby person like me or westerner like my husband is not suitable because eldery would experiencing difficulties to stand up, for chubby person like me would be difficult to squat, because my belly will get in the way . For westerner with big build will also difficult to squat.
This is a friendly suggestion, if possible, please invest at least one sitting toilet with bidet. It would be considerate and useful investment.
Toilet is necessary and very important for a restaurant which sell spicy food.

This restaurant has been in her list for quite a long time but due to the location of this restaurant (Kuchai Lama of all places) we had to make sure that we had works to do nearby before heading to the area that we hardly go.
The pictures on Instagram looked so delicious.. and since there were only two of us, we couldn't afford to order much food. Initially just wanted to settle for two dishes, she spotted something she loved and proceed to order another one.
◾Sichuan boiled fish - very appetising and fiery at the same time. The fresh fish slices were boiled in the sourish and spicy soup. The sight of the mouth numbing green peppercorn + spicy dried chilly made me nervous and excited at the same time. My head was sweating before, during and after the meal. But... Please order this! ◾Sichuan bacon - the savoury bacon pieces were stir fried with fragrant spices, chilly and you know it.. peppercorn again! ◾Century egg - good quality century egg bathed in the red chilly oil together with minced garlic, red chilly and spices. If you love century egg, you'll love this.
We missed out on the barbequed meat on skewers that they are famous for, but they only serve them late afternoon until night time. Their food were authentic and delicious in general.. and I must plan a dinner...
Read moreI always was a little skeptical to try Sichuan foods due to the stereotype impression of extremely numbing & spicy foods. However, I saw a food program the other day and was moved by the owner’s passion to provide the best service and ingredients to her customers.
After my first encounter with the restaurant and its Sichuan foods, I am amazed to find that the food taste so much better than I thought!
My highly recommended dish is the stir fried cabbage. I’ve never thought that a simple stir fried cabbage dish will impressed me that much! Instead of chopping with knife, they tear the cabbage in to pieces by hand, and that makes a BIG difference to the taste and texture. You should try it yourself to believe what I said!
Another recommended dish is the Old Duck Soup. The duck doesn’t have a gamey taste and its meat is very tender. The soup taste a little sourish and spicy, which is delicious and appetizing.
The salted egg french bean is also another yummy dish. The french bean is fresh and crunchy. The salted egg yoke paste is not too salty and overlapping the taste of the...
