Cafe Istana Budaya — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Place is good, food variety is OK, but the staff & mgt lack common sense, creativity and consideration. They demand you to pay in advance, but they dont replenish the food - popular food like fried chicken even though the buffet is supposed to end at 10pm. We arrived at around 7.50pm, iftar starts at 7.20pm, they've ran out of some dishes, and when asked if they're going to replenish the food, they said NO. Seriously? So hub made some comments, then one of the staff told us to move to dining area one level up. When asked what is different, he said, nothing, menu all the same. Little did we know it was a private function! It was quite awkward and embarrassing - we were.like gate crashing people's party! Geez. The cashier never smiles - it's like she has the biggest problems ever. The owner never wants to us when hub said he would like to give some suggestions and comments, eventhough he's around. (We know he was there). Unbelievable. So yes, 2 star is sufficient enough based on today's experience. Still generous, although I felt 1 star is...

not much choices and serve typical canteen foods... if you are really in a hurry to catch the show than its ok to have a quicky there but if you have ample time you should really consider proper meal elsewhere. ... price wise...

Among my fav places to eat in kl area.. ayam bakar is so nice here but u need to come early for lunch otherwise sold out. In the AM, pls try the roti canai kaki...
