Dapur Sarawak may not have the best of the best when it comes to sarawak food, but for an easily accessible place with friendly and good service, great ambience and, most importantly, good food, this is a place definitely worth visiting.
Let me get this right out there; there are places with better sarawak laksa in KL, but they are really far from where I stay. That being said, I've had worse Laksa back in Kuching itself (where I'm from). The laksa is all you'd expect from a good sarawak laksa; you've got a great serving of omelette, shredded chicken and fresh prawns with a nice garnish of coriander to complete the hearty laksa soup and bee hoon. I personally prefer a thicker laksa broth. The broth here is slightly more watery, but it's still good and enough to satisfy my laksa cravings.
The Kam Pua Mee I was pretty good too, just that it could do with a little more wetness, other than that, it was good, and I don't have much to say about it other than that the noodles were nice and springy.
Dapur Sarawak also has nice kek lapis, and sells each loaf (is that what they're called?) at RM25, which is a decent price.
The restaurant is split into two sections, one open air section and a much nicer air-conditioned section, with nice chairs and natural lighting in the day.
All in all, I do recommend this place for anyone looking for simple place with pretty good Sarawakian...

I highly recommend the Sarawak Laksa Special. The curry is very savory, creamy and not too spicy, just to my liking. It complements the texture of the thin noodles and the thinly sliced omelette, shredded chicken and shrimps.
Ordering food here is efficient; the use a QR Code that will lead you to their ordering site, where you can browse through their menu and add the food items to your cart before checkout. On the other hand, one of the waiters was a bit blur as he served us drinks before we even ordered anything, as he seemed distracted and deep in his thoughts. After countless attempts to call out to him, he finally came to and realized he waited the wrong table, picked up the drinks, and left our table.
The restaurant is quite big, as it spans two shop lots, with its left wing being well air-conditioned and very comfortable to dine in. The colors of the walls are maroon, which complements the dark wooden furniture within the restaurant.
All in all, it is a great place for family and friends to hang out while enjoying a delectable piece of Sarawak in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. I am already planning my next visit here and am looking forward to...
Read moreBeing Sarawakian, I can vouch its taste to be authenticity Sarawak. They made the flavor feels closer to home, at least for their main dish, Mee Kolok and Laksa Sarawak and interestingly they also have Nasi Goreng Dabai (for those who is not familiar with Dabai, it is a kind of seasonal fruit native to Borneo, having a look of black olive and the taste and texture of avocado. Usually added to dish as pickles). You might also want to try the variety of 3-layer tea there. The restaurant also available in food delivery app, so if you don’t find yourself convenient to visit the restaurant, you can have it delivered.
If there is one thing that maybe not matched to my expectation for a 5-star, that would be the Kek Lapis Sarawak. It is just not as dense and rich in flavors like what I have back there, it doesn’t impress me so much when they have quite a great key dishes. I’m sure they could do better on that part, as the rest look-and-taste are...
