MENU VERDICT :
Roti Canai • Roti is served hot when it arrived. Crunchy texture, soft to tear apart, quite thick and taste good. No dhal but I prefer curry only for my roti canai dip anyway and the curry is good. Highly recommended
Nasi campur My rice meal has fried chicken wing, black pepper beef, rendang gravy, rebung and pucuk paku masak lemak, all cost me around RM 10.30 which is quite reasonable given my generous meal portion. The beef dish is good, tender beef and tasty pepper taste. The fried chicken is decent but chicken is a bit chewy and the crumbs not quite crispy. For veggies, the rebung (bamboo shoot) and pucuk paku are good.
THE GOOD : • Quite big place with plenty of seating and the place is fairly clean • Efficient service by the staff and my orders get delivered quickly • Wide selection of lauk (side dishes) to choose from • There's a separate dining room with aircon available (extra charge) • Located directly in front of KPJ Hospital with close proximity to Tasik Titiwangsa and Istana Budaya • Close to Titiwangsa metro station (less than 10 min walk) • Cash, cards and e-wallet payment are supported • Toilets are available on the premise
THE NOT-SO-GOOD : • The place can get quite crowded with customers, especially...
Read moreSeveral food gems here in the evening with mee jawa, laksa, and murtabak. They really know how to ensure new food is constantly introduced throughout the 3 main meal time. Unlike certain places, Haslam understands the phrase that less is more - and certainly the focus is on providing customers with not too much choices, yet high quality menu that really taste homemade.
Overall, if you are looking for malay cooking there's no need to look for other places. This restaurant has been around for quite some time now. We regard Haslam as among the best places to eat Malay food. The sambal belacan tastes well savoured with variety of ulam. The lemak perut is probably one their signature dishes, the kerabu perut is available occasionally. You can get Malay desserts such as the sago gula melaka, kuih lapis, tapioca with grated coconut. The lempeng pisang is available around 230pm and has people waiting while it is being cooked. Parking a bit difficult on weekdays but you can park at tawakal hospital...
Read moreFood wise taste is ok. Price bit expensive. Today just wanna share an awkward moment. 🤣. I was queue for payment when suddenly there was 1 guy (Owner/Manager/Supervisor) perhaps, generously take our receipt and other customer receipt which in queue and bring to the front cashier. He said like hes gonna pay or something. When other keep thanking him and left the restaurant, then i saw there some confuse situation at the cashier, then the “guy” approach me and ask me if i paid or not? I mean what?? Doesnt matter, of course im going to pay for my meal. Due to confuse situation in front, they calculate the random bill (which i found a more expensive than what i originally received). I mean whatever, i just pay the bill. Since its look a bit havoc in front and dont want to make a fuss.
Moral of the story, to the generous guy who pick other customers bills in queue, please dont do it like that. 😂
Whatever i pay more, i consider it as “halal”. May god bless you and...
