I ordered the salted fish fried rice, prawn chee cheong fun, egg custard bun, and lemongrass chicken, but the entire experience was disappointing. Salted Fish Fried Rice: Bland and completely lacked flavor. I had to ask for chopped chili just to make it palatable. Prawn Chee Cheong Fun: Found prawn skin in it, which was unpleasant and showed poor preparation. Egg Custard Bun: The bun was not soft as it should be, which ruined the texture and overall enjoyment. Lemongrass Chicken: The chicken came in large, soft chunks that didn’t match the dish’s concept. It should’ve been cut into bite-sized pieces and slightly crisp.
To top it off, our table was dirty when we were seated, and the waiter was as bland as the fried rice. Adding to the disappointment, Chinese restaurants traditionally serve bowls. How is it that you provide the ceramic spoons but paired with flat plates? The lack of bowls is unacceptable for a place that claims to be a Chinese restaurant.
This felt like a lazy attempt at Chinese food, with little attention to detail in preparation, service, or even the basics of presentation. I wouldn’t recommend it based on...
Read moreMy husband and I are Malaysians living in Thailand, and we were so happy to be back in KL for a short holiday to visit family and friends and, of course, to revisit all our favourite restaurants.
Unfortunately, our recent experience at Dolly Dim Sum (KL East Mall) was disappointing. We ordered our usual favourites: the Crispy Egg Noodles with chicken and the Beef Kuey Teow. While the gravy and noodles were fine, the chicken pieces had a strange smell — almost like they were no longer fresh. The Beef Kuey Teow was alright, but it didn’t taste as good as it used to, though I still managed to finish it.
We also ordered two different teas. The Ju Hua tea would have been more enjoyable if the flower petals were filtered or served in a tea bag, having them floating in the cup made it hard to drink comfortably.
We hope these areas can be improved, and we’ll definitely give it another try during our next visit to see if Dolly Dim Sum can continue to be one of our go-to...
Read moreDolly Dim Sum never fails me, have tried most of everything on the menu and i have my favourites. I’d suggest the schezuan steamed dim sum, salad prawn dumpling, chewy meat croquet, sweet n sour beancurd, crispy egg noodle and for dessert try the mango delight, there’s lots more on the menu but I’ve listed ones which are my go-to when here. My only wish is that they would add on something new after having the same menu for more than three years (a short run during Rammadhan with Mimpikita doesn’t count). Anyways you will never go wrong with Dolly’s or when ordering anything from the menu, so I recommend this place! With the price tag, once a month visit with the whole family to say tq for your support and I love you, ok lah😅 be warned also that there is always a waiting line so once you arrive and you see one, get a queue number from the reception and wait for your turn to be wow-ed...
