Brought my family to try ah loong son's fishball noodles with smooth chicken, stuffed taufupuff and hakka deep fried pork. They used to have those 'flying saucers', fish skin dumplings but no longer. Ah loong's father used to run his shop from an old bungalow on the fringe of Kg. Baru back in the day - my dad used to take us to eat once a year. Fishballs are hand made, hence the uneven texture. Poached chicken is out of this world. The 5 kids i waa baby-sitting loved it so much, we had two plates of this on top of our individual bowls of noodles each. Prices are affordable. Only drawback here is, on my visit, there was a bird in the shop, which prolly built a nest above the roller shutter and was making a lot of noise - prolly feeling threatened or crying for food? We were sat close and worries if it popped on us. Once our food arrived, it was all eyes on the food.

‘Old School’ fishball noodles. Or Perak ‘Hor Hee’ style fish paste noodles. It’s like visiting a new village restaurant. The decor is also old school, aka wooded stools with marble tops - the heavy kind. The noodles was ok lah… you def can say it’s still handmade, not like the store bought kind which is mostly flour… it still has the vintage fish ball taste. All the servers and likely the cooks are of the older generation, so be prepared for a ‘rough’ huff and puff recommendations. Nevertheless, a nice lunch or breakfast place to come to. I think once the owners decide not to continue, this will be the end of the era for this restaurant. So if you are in the area, just give them a try. First time, I’m in this area on a weekday, and was surprised that car park could be a hassle to find a readily available spot. Might have to park in a non sanctioned lot.

Unusual location for this second generation fishball noodles. In that it is not in a bustling area. This is really old school, traditional as mentioned by other patrons. It is a flavour you no longer find easily. The broth is gentle and you adjust it personally to your taste with soya sauce, just like in the good old days. I liked the place so much that I ordered a steamed kampung chicken for pick up and had that for dinner. It was beautifully done, with the chicken skin firm and glistening yellow. The place could do with a spring clean though to make it brighter 😊

The service attitude is too bad. After we sat down, the aunty came to place the order, but she left without placing the order. I thought she just ran to the back to inform something then she would be back but she didn’t return to our table at all . We called another uncle to place the order, but he said we have to wait , it wouldn’t be that fast 😅. Actually other table all ordered only left our table . Then we waited for a while and called several times to place the order, but he didn’t come, so we left! We will never come to such a poor service restaurant no matter how...
