Little Malaya Cafe @ Pacific Express Central Market — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

— Unsafe food hygiene / AVOID —

Came across the resturant and entered at 16:30 (1.5 hours before closure). Ordered 2 x Nasi Lemak Ayam Sambal & Roti Canai.

Roti Canai was served hot & fresh, what followed was nothing but a disaster. The chicken in the Nasi Lemak was COLD and the rice was luke warm.

Feeling disappointed & curious, I asked the waiter why the meat was cold? I was told it’s supposed to be this way, the chicken was cooked hot at 1PM and left in a metal container & that hot was no longer an option. I said that this is UNSAFE leaving meat at room temperature in a container that isn’t either refrigerated or heated.

He offered to have it cooked fresh and we agreed. Next, is a total food hygiene shock, the SAME pieces of chicken returned MICROWAVED to a luke warm temperature.

Immediately said we want to leave, we do not want the food and explained the dangers. 100’s of reasons were offered as to why this happened such as ‘The other waiter is new, the chef said no more hot chicken’

The food hygiene, deception, and overall service was horrific as was the food. Every other restaurant we have ate at has served fresh steaming hot Nasi Lemak. We were treated unfairly for what reason?

The food was amazing and the staff went above and beyond. One staff member was incredibly kind - he helped me book a taxi at night, as i was a tourist i did not have the app called GRAB and even assisted me until the main road so that i dont miss the taxi. I later realized he have paid for the ride himself since the app was from his phone. I was embarrassed after i reached my destination as i wasn't aware about the app. I truly wanted to return the favor and thank him , personally , i went back the day after again but unfortunately i couldn't find the street and the cafe though i was around the area. I recently dined at Little Malaya Cafe and had a wonderful experience! It was my first time trying the butter fish, and it was absolutely delicious. My brother ordered the dry chili chicken rice, which was equally impressive. Both dishes were packed with flavor and prepared to perfection.

What made the experience even more special was the outstanding service. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the chef even came out to check if the food met our expectations—a thoughtful touch that shows their dedication to customer satisfaction.
