its hard to find decent breakfast anywhere, but this place is open early. i was hesitant to eat here at first because i am a bit intimidated to eat at large restaurants and i was unsure about the tipping customs in malaysia. i walked around a bit to see my options and looked at the mcdonalds menu and made my way back here and sat down. i had the roti made with egg and onion, then ordered the butter roti. i enjoyed both but prefer the egg and onion because the buttered is a bit too sweet for me. they have an efficient way for people to pay for food by using an rfid card that tracks what you ordered. you just bring it to the cashier and he gives you the total. my total came out to 9.85 ringgit, which i thought i was undercharged for because i had ordered the second roti later, but it was all there. 4 myr for egg/onion roti, 3 myr for butter roti, and 2.30 for the tea tarik. there is a 6% service tax of 0.56 myr which got rounded down to 0.55 myr. cant get a cheaper breakfast than that at mcdonalds. the hostel that i am staying at is next to this restaurant. if there were more suitable hostels in the area i would probably stay near the central market area because i can see myself eating the same few things around here for an extended period. all travelers should try breakfast here at least once for the simple stuff like roti and tea. maybe observe some of what the locals are eating and be more adventurous...

THE GOOD : • Surprisingly reasonable price • Decent selection of lauk (side dishes) to choose from • Strategic location. Literally next to Central Market (Pasar Seni) • Very close to LRT and MRT Pasar Seni (5 min walk) • The premise is spacious with plenty of seating and the cleanliness is decent • • No online order delivery or self-pickup via Foodpanda
THE NOT-SO-GOOD : • Cash payment only • Weirdly, no staff came to my table to give a price for my nasi kandar meal after I'd done picking lauk (side dishes) for it. I wait for a while but still, no one came, so I decided to ask the cashier and he said to eat first, hmm ok. When it was time to pay at the end, it was a clueless situation for a moment since the cashier didn't know what to charge me for lol. Fortunately, I took picture of my nasi kandar which the cashier refer to. Not sure if this is a thing here but usually mamak place nailed...

I would like to share a very disappointing experience at this shop so that other Malaysians will be more careful. The service given was clearly biased — warm and friendly to tourists, but cold and arrogant to local customers.
The cashiers (father and son) were both arrogant and unfriendly. When I tried to give feedback, the cashier said he "didn't understand" what I was saying. This is clearly a ploy to avoid responsibility.
I really don't understand how foreign workers and business operators can do business in Malaysia but be arrogant towards Malaysians. Maybe they think they don't need to care because tourists still shop there. But that is no excuse for treating locals like this.
Malaysians deserve better service. Shop somewhere that...
