Update 16.12.2024 Finally received a refund on the unused package 2 years later. Had to insist multiple times and threaten legal action before they finally got their admin to process it. Even then, they still tried to bullshit us multiple times:
Tried charging 5% penalty fee even though they are already deducting the 1 used session from the package (pls note, the Consumer Protection Act 1999 says they can charge 5% OR deduct for already-used services);
Tried to charge GST on the original transaction (even though GST has been abolished!);
Tried to charge credit card merchant transaction fee (also not allowed by banks and Bank Negara!).
In the end we agreed to deduct a small credit card fee just to avoid more delay. But Wax Candy is NOT serious about customer service and don't have any hesitations about squeezing money out of you even when the customer is already very unhappy. If you have been upsold a package, please use your rights and insist on a full refund, do not let them charge you bullshit fees, do not let them scare you.
Also suggest you skip messaging the individual branches (where the staff don't have authority to help you with refunds) and immediately insist on speaking to their admin/HQ (has a different contact number).
Tl;dr Terrible customer experience (very pushy sales tactics, hard selling) and unethical, probably illegal business practices (refusing to issue refund for unused services). Will be complaining to KPDN and taking legal action. For others here with the same problem, please know your rights! You can sue them in court (small claims in Magistrate court - very cheap and much faster process if RM5000 or less) or in the Tribunal for Consumer Claims.
My wife went for a session some time ago and they engage in very pushy sales tactics to get you to upgrade/buy a package. She said yes but felt very pressured. I see other reviews here mentioning this practice as well. Not sure if it's the same bad salesperson, or the manager, or whether it's company SOP.
Later, when she decided she didn't want the package any more, she asked for a refund and they refused to provide, claiming their TOC does not allow for refund. This is illegal. Consumer Protection Act 1999 says services like this are subject to refund for any unused services. Twice over a long time she has asked for a refund and eventually they have just ghosted her.

Background: It was an impulse decision to get a Brazilian wax before my beach holiday. When I got there, both the receptionist and later my therapist kept on recommending laser, which to me was still fine. I insisted that I wanted to get just a wax, then only the therapist said my hair was to short to proceed. Iâve always wanted to try laser and since she gave me a 50% discount, I thought ok Iâll go ahead and try anyway.
Here are my two reasons why my experience was so bad:
I thought they were DISHONEST. The therapist had already known that I wanted to get a wax because I was going on a beach holiday. She pushed for the laser but after the treatment, I realised there were stubs. I actually thought during the laser it will remove the hair completely. When I pressed on and asked can I continue shaving during my trip, she said ânoâ. I said to her that Iâve mentioned Iâll be going on a trip. She then told me that the hair will fall off by itself. I took her word for it. But it didnât - so either their treatment didnât work or she pushed for me to get a laser treatment knowing that it wasnât a suitable choice for me and my main objective for the trip. I had to continue shaving for the entire trip!
They are extremely pushy. They pushed for laser treatments all the way which to me was a bit annoying. When I was done with the procedure they told me to sign a package. I said no thanks. Then another lady came to ask me what credit card I was using. I thought she wanted to proceed with my payment. To my horror she said âdonât worry, your credit card can do instalment plan. I can do for you!â Now at this point I was really annoyed, I quickly settled my bill and left with the most unpleasant feeling.
I am definitely interested in laser hair removal, but I will definitely not do it here at wax candy. There are so many other places that have this option, please...
