Were looking for a good lunch spot with plenty of lauk choices and came across this restaurant so we decided to give it a try.
Arrived around 1.45pm and the place was still buzzing with people, which is always a good sign. The variety of lauk is impressive, from ulam ulaman and multiple types of sambal, to fried ayam kampung, fried fish, gulai, paru berlada, gulai lemak and so much more. Honestly, it’s the kind of spread that makes you want to try everything.
It’s a self service restaurant, take your own plate, scoop your rice, and go around choosing your dishes and straight away go to the counter to pay. They also provide bowls and small plates if you want to separate sambal, gulai, or gravies. The drinks are also self service, pay and pour it yourself.
Ended up with kangkung, paru berlada, peria goreng as well as singgang ikan, lemak goreng, and a few types of sambal including sambal tempoyak and budu. Just went with iced water, and the total came up to RM30 quite reasonable considering the amount of lauk we took.
Taste wise, everything was just okay. The paru sambal lacked spiciness, and the other sambals were decent but nothing exceptional. Nothing particularly memorable, but the sheer variety of lauk definitely stands out. It’s the kind of place where you’re spoiled for choice.
As for the setup, the space isn’t too wide, but still manageable, even strollers can fit. There’s also an uplifted section to accommodate more diners. Parking is along the roadside, so you’ll need to be careful. There’s also a busker performing, with music played at a comfortable volume. The song choices are okay and suitable...

Read moreIt was our first time here.. My mother didn’t know the soup was free. She took a bowl from in front of the soup pots, and just as she was about to pour the soup, a man came over and told her not to use that bowl. He then handed her a smaller bowl and harshly said, 'Jangan Tamak!' which was completely unnecessary and RUDE!!! She didn't even know it was free, and she took that bowl with the intent to pay for it! Such a judgmental remark toward an innocent elderly person!
