Atmosphere: 3.5🌟 This Kopitiam is actually over 3 shop lots with the middle one having the best environment and more cooling. There's also outside seats for the corner lot which otherwise not much seats inside. Mobile line in center slots seems very bad though.
Service: 3.75🌟
Food: Yong Tau Fu & Chee Cheong Fun 4 🌟 Yong Tau Fu is considerably cheap in this area at 2.20 a piece and it's pretty much bigger than most places. Has about 12 types to choose from (both fried and soup). Must try. My personal favorites are eggplant, ladies finger, fried dumpling, fried turnip rolls, fried flat youtiao and pork skin (with curry Chee Cheong Fun). The CCF is per plate not per piece. 1 plate I think it's about 2.5 pieces of normal place CCF.
Food: Fried Dumpling 3.75🌟 Snacks from the Fish ball stall. Appearance doesn't seems that good but actually its tasty as the fillings fresh and nice including black fungus. Priced at Rm 10 for 5 (Minimum 3).
Food: Prawn Noodle 3.5 🌟 Pretty decent, should try. Sometimes it's a bit salty as the soup has deep flavor. I order without chili oil as I find it too oily with it. It's almost as good as the one in Hakka Delights.
Food: Curry Chicken Noodle 3.5 🌟 The broth isn't the usual ones with a lot of coconut/santan and has some spiciness. Chicken is tender but beware of small bone pieces in soup. Priced at Rm 9
Food: Curry Mutton Noodle 3 🌟 Quite decent but it's not flavorful enough for me, can try.
Food: Hakka Noodle 3.25 🌟 Noodles is nice but doesn't have much other sides.
Food: Pork Noodle 3.5🌟 Soup 3.5🌟, Ingredients 3.25🌟 Soup taste appetizing. The ingredient portion is actually quite good just that meat slices are not coated hence can be rough. Priced at Rm 9.50
Food: Porridge 3.25 🌟 Usually is Century & Salted Egg Pork Porridge and it's quite nice but I wish they will put more century egg.
Food: Tom Yum Fish Maw Noodle 3.25 🌟 Pretty ok but it can go with less salt. Like the rice noodle but it doesn't have many sides to the noodles other than 5 pieces of Fish Maw despite at RM 15. If you are not a fan of Fish Maw, you can skip this.
Food: Char Kuey Teow 3.25🌟 Food: Fried Lou Su Fun 3🌟 Both are of similar seasonings. It has pork lards and has some rather strong seasoning. I feel Lou Su Fun maybe not be a good match here, definately Claypot style better. Cockles is not overcooked. Priced at Rm 9 each
Food: Wan Tan Noodle 2.75 🌟 Noodle texture unfortunately very soft, maybe I got it on bad day.
Food: Chicken Spaghetti 3.25🌟 Flavor is standard but I think prices is pretty cheap.
Food: Pan Mee 3.25 🌟
Food: Dumpling Noodle 3.75🌟 Fried Dumpling 4🌟, Soup Dumpling 3.75🌟 From the Fishball noodle stall. Had side order Fried Dumpling last time, it's fantastic ... Crispy with fresh flavorful fillings. This time ordered a Dumpling Noodle. The yellow noodle "gan sui" very strong, which I like 😅. Soup dumplings again very nice flavorful fresh fillings (3 of them). Priced at Rm 9
Drinks: Kopi (Ice) 3.25 🌟 Take away less sweet but still very sweet. Priced at Rm 3.80
Drinks: Chinese Tea...
Read moreChar Kuey Teow was good albeit strangely, it came with a light sweet flavour, which would disappear after a while once the taste buds got used to it.
Chicken chop was above average with meat a little chewy and tough. Sauce was a little too starchy. This was served with fries, bun, slices of tomato and cucumber as sides which I thought was quite commendable in a place like this. Wondering if they would fry the tomato according to request.
Lam Mee and Char Siu Wonton Noodle would just be about average. I would rather suggest other items.
Hakka Lei Cha was quite good. It would cost the same with or without the rice. No discount for not having rice. I would tend to give this item a miss because of this.
Toasted bread was good enough. Thick enough to be crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, slightly crumbly though. Served with standard pandan flavoured coconut jam and margarine, not sure if butter is available upon request.
Tea with condensed milk was fine with most drink items standard.
The workers would be too busy to wipe the tables clean during the peak weekends. Tables tends to be a little grimy and sticky.
It would be difficult to get a table for weekend breakfast.
Cleanliness of washrooms would be acceptable. I would actually like to see toilet rolls provided.
Same price range as eateries of similar...
Read moreLocated in Kuchai Lama, This is a coffee shop with lots of stalls. This is a regular coffee shop, so will not comment on the ambience. Went there for breakfast and tried the following:
Hakka mee Mee is nice with the correct texture and taste is good also. However it is not the authentic type of Hakka Mee (usually authentic ones comes with meat balls, garlic and fish sauce). Average 3.5🌟 for the food quality. Price is RM6 for a regular bowl.
Fish Head Noodles This stall is supposed to be the star stall. However the taste is only average and the soup is tasteless besides tasting too Sour-ish. However the fish is nice earning it 3 🌟. Price is RM9 for a regular bowl.
Hong Kong Cheong Fun This looks really nice when served with shrimp toppings. However the cheong fun is too hard (supposed to be soft). If you do a takeaway I'm sure it will be too hard and coarse when you eat. Taste is nice.. Too bad the cheong fun is not....
