Update as of June 16, 2024: They're closed for renovations apparently beginning June 10 until September 1, 2024. Search and follow their Facebook Page "Golden Sun Restaurant - 金阳迎宾楼" for updates. That was where I got the info. In the meantime, those who want their similar menu can actually check out "Upper Palace Restaurant" right outside Pavilion Bukit Jalil area. It's not inside Pavilion BJ but super duper close. Right outside only. Food is not bad too, but may need reservations for that location.
GS Club's Golden Sun Restaurant is now under the Upper Palace Dining Group and I believe this was new management since May 2023.
The service and atmosphere and food here is impeccable. We came here for dim sum initially, after not eating here for 2 years. The dim sum menu is not as vast, but all of the items are well made and tasted really good. Their staff service is extremely professional and we were taken care of very well during our dim sum brunch here. They were very attentive to our needs, paying attention to our teapot and checking if it needed a refill, kept an eye on our plates and gave us new ones when they noticed it's messy, and cleared off empty plates & dishes very efficiently. Waiters and servers were all very polite and professional. To top it all of, the environment here is good, comfortable, and cozy.
Two weeks later, we decided to get dinner and came here again since we were so impressed during their dim sum. We were a group of 4 people, and just wanted a 'dishes and rice meal'. This time we were ordered half a London Duck (which I HIGHLY recommend - it was SOOOO good and perfectly cooked!), sweet and sour pork (咕噜肉), mapo tofu, and stir fried kailan to go with rice. Man, that roast duck was so perfect - crisp and juicy skin, and meat that was so tender it was hard to believe we were eating duck! Was not tough or hard to chew at all. Mapo tofu had szechuan peppercorns, so there is a very subtle mala kick to it, which we thought was nice, because mapo tofu dishes everywhere tends to neglect this aspect of the dish. And the Sweet & Sour Pork - again had very crisp yet tender pork cuts. All in all, we had a very, VERY satisfying meal once again. And their service level is once again professional and attentive.
I would highly recommend this spot. It's a good location for family gatherings, and special occasions or to entertain guests. They were busy but not crowded or crazy packed. Parking is decent. And the entire building is pretty accessible ♿ with elevators, lifts, and a very caring guard that takes care of the parking lot. Old folks would be given assistance and when we were there, the sun was very hot, yet this guard on duty, brought an umbrella out to provide shade to my mother from the car to the building's front entrance.
Again, the building is pretty accessible ♿Building entrance has a ramp and the doors are definitely wide enough to cater to wheelchair users or people with mobility issues. There is an elevator/lift available, and within the restaurant, it is also very easy since there are no steps or obstacles for wheelchair-users and all tables are easily wheelchair-accessible. Restrooms are readily...
Read moreThe dimsum really nice. Because all serve in hot but not overcooked. My friend and i ate almost type of dimsum, the meat and prawn is really fresh. Especially the Cheong Fan, the texture is soft and springy, and it absord all the all the soy sauce, it make like so perfect. The Yu Mai also very nice, it is bouncy but still can eat fish texture, i think it is so natural. Siu Mai is nice, because well mixture of prawn and pork, the taste not too oily, you will definitely can eat more. As overall, the food all is quite nice, at least you will not feel greasy full. So overall the food i will rate 4 stars, because not all the dimsum are perfect.
For the service, maybe they had not enough staff so our hot water is hard to get people to refill, and we ate all the steam dimsum, the fry dimsum haven't send to us and show. So a bit disappointed these.
The environment is considered grand, and the table arrangement also not so crowded, so quite comfortable eating there. The outside of the building have an open car park, so there are many parking lot, so don't have worry can't get. Just that it is outdoor car pak, if it is raining a...
