To summarise, this place is a kopitiam style western food with restaurant level price.
Run by chinese owners, the place looks like it's furnished to be a pub, or probably it was a pub in its past life. Dark, dingy ambience with very dim lighting. Cheap metal tables and plastic chairs. No aircond, open air.
Just outside the shop (but still within the premise), an uncle is selling curry laksa which is very unusual. So people eating curry laksa are sitting next to people eating western food. It almost feels like a hawker centre.
Lady boss tries to be helpful, but is not overly friendly. Service is considered ok as there are very few tables and many foreign maids sitting around.
I had the sizzling chicken chop with wedges/fries (RM22.50) and black pepper sauce. Though expensive for this environment, the piece of chicken chop does appear to be quite big. And it's well seasoned and juicy. Wedges are cut very huge, I would have preferred bite-sized. The meal comes with a piece of corn which was quite troublesome to eat, but still acceptable for me.
Menu choices are aplenty with chicken chop, spaghetti, pork chop and many more. Sure you could try it once if you like to pay RM20++ for this kind of environment, but I would personally recommend giving...
Read moreThey used breast for chicken chop. This is the first time I’m seeing breast for a RM20 chicken chop. Was dry and tough. Usually restaurants will use chicken thigh as it is silkier and softer.
Next, the hainanese fried pork was subpar. The fried pork chop was decent actually but the overly sweetened one dimensional tomato sauce killed it. Felt like it was jam. Sweet. I personally don’t like thousand island sauce on my salad and they use just that. I’ve tasted other hainanese sauce that was flavorful and layered. This didn’t hit it.
Lastly, mushroom soup with a small toast. Mushroom soup was canned but I didn’t mind it as it was nostalgic. However the toast, as dry as it could have been. Could have atleast buttered it before toasting. Really below average food. I hope they do improve on it....
Read moreMushroom soup RM8 very thick although it is too salty to me, but still above average. Small small bread not crispy enough
Fried Chicken Chop big portion RM17, French fries crispy, Thumbs-up to this 👍👍
Grilled pork aglio olio spegetti RM21 taste very nice, especially the sauce, but compare with price, pork too small. Not sure is it the original taste but the sauce for the spegetti tasted a bit rotten however it didn't taste sour.
Average RM 24 per pax (western food only), will have the thinking of is the environment worth this price? With the range of food price, environment got room to improve
Surprise: can order Chinese food, uncle infront of us seem enjoy very much on the kuey tiew soup
