Fresh seafood daily!
Teow Chew Seafood got their supply of seafood daily from Kuala Selangor to guarantee its freshness when served to their customers. I chanced upon this restaurant one day when I was in Desa Parkcity. After bringing the kids to walk around the waterfront, it was time for dinner but someone wanted to eat seafood. Searching around, I found this popular seafood restaurant in Sri Bintang area (right next to Desa Parkcity) and quickly made a call to reserve a table. Luckily I did because it was packed to the brim with many waiting for tables when we arrived around 7pm.
After settling everyone, I took a look around to see what dishes to order - they do have menu or if you prefer, they have pictures of their dishes together with the name plastered on the wall for easier ordering.
◾Teo chew style steamed red snapper - I noticed that almost all the tables had this teo chew style steamed fish and quickly placed mine. The red snapper was very fresh and its meat was flaky, while the teo chew broth was appetising but I preferred it to be a bit spicier. Overall a great fish. ◾Salted egg crab - you'll love this if you're a fan of crab ◾salt & pepper mantis shrimp - I love to peel off the shell from its back and then chomp on the flesh. ◾Kung Lou mantis shrimp - one of my favourite style when it comes to mantis shrimp ◾Siong tong lala aka clams in superior soup ◾Sizzling asam squid - now this was another winner for all of us. ◾Pai kuat Wong - at the request of the sonny who's not really a fan of seafood. ◾Steamed salted herbal chicken - they got the flavour right but the chicken meat was too hard to chew.. perhaps because of old chicken?
A word of advise - please call and reserve your table especially on weekends as looking at the strong crowd, this restaurant must be very popular with the locals as well as outsiders. The steamed fish alone (if I didn't include mantis shrimp and crab) can warrant...
Read moreSimple restaurant serving very fresh seafood from crabs, prawns, sea cucumber, lobsters, lala to the usual traditional chinese dishes. Their menu is very extensive. We ordered for lunch simple dishes of kam heong lala, prawn taufu and guinness stout chicken. The lala dish was flavourful and lala fresh. Yum ! The spicy prawn taufu is something quite different and interesting, it is worth trying. It is tasty and the taufu very nice texture. The guinness stout chicken was really very good. Crispy with sticky sauce and very tasty. Gotta be my fav, a must-try for anyone new to this restaurant. We saw a lot of dishes that we wanted to try so definitely we will be back. The crabs look so good. The service was quick and efficient. The deco is nothing but just practical, could be more uplifting. The parking here is a nightmare. Be sure to come...
Read moreThis is a highly recommended place to come for a hearty dinner. I must say the served one of the best crab in KL. We ordered their Creamy Butter crab 🦀 10/10 and it was huge and so so flavourful. Their Sweet & Sour pork ribs 9/10 also spot on. Their kids totally love it. We also ordered Kam Heong Lala 7/10, a bit over powering the taste but not too bad. We also had their Steam Teow Chew Red Fish 7/10.. taste was not too bad but a bit lack of flavour. Fried egg 7/10 normal normal. And their fried veggies 7/10 was good. Overall it’s a valued for money and will definitely go back again to try their other crab flavour. If possible, don’t sit inside, because if will be a bit noisy with the people talking.. outside...
