Review of The Jungle City Kitchen and Bar
On the 26th of November, I had the opportunity to dine at The Jungle City Kitchen and Bar located at 37636, Jalan 6/37a, Taman Bukit Maluri, Kuala Lumpur. My family and I visited the restaurant to celebrate my Mum's birthday, and the evening turned out to be a delightful experience with a few minor drawbacks.
Ambiance
The first thing that caught my attention was the unique and captivating ambiance of the restaurant. The Jungle City Kitchen and Bar is housed in a spacious refurbished warehouse, beautifully decorated to resemble a jungle. A literal tree stands proudly inside the restaurant, adding a touch of nature to the urban setting. The chandeliers were made of bottles, and the wallpaper on the walls was that of a jungle. Furthermore, the presence of lamp posts even inside the restaurant added a quirky touch to the interior decoration. I loved the way it looked, and this ambiance set the perfect tone for our celebration.
Our dinner started with ordering a range of dishes. I had the spaghetti bolognese for 20 ringgit. The milkshake, fried chicken with French fries on the side, and chicken burger with chips were enjoyed by my family. For me, the spaghetti bolognese tasted great and was well cooked, but for its price, it was a bit less in portioning. The fried chicken was crispy and good, while the French fries were seasonably done. The chicken burger was heartier and more satisfying with the crispy chips. The milkshakes were rich and creamy, a hit for everyone at the table.
The service at The Jungle City Kitchen and Bar was commendable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring that our needs were met promptly. A special moment of the evening was when we cut a small cake for my Mum's birthday. The staff played a birthday song in the background, making the celebration even more memorable. This thoughtfulness added a personal touch to our dining experience.
In conclusion, our experience at The Jungle City Kitchen and Bar was highly satisfying. The unique and enchanting ambiance, coupled with the friendly service, made it a memorable evening for our family. While there were a few minor nitpicks regarding the food, such as the portion size of the spaghetti bolognese and the sufficiency of the drinks, these did not significantly detract from the overall enjoyment. I would give our experience 9/10 and look forward to returning, perhaps to explore more of their menu offerings. Read moreThis restaurant is located in an industrial area but don't let that discourage you from visiting. The spacious interior is well air-conditioned and boasts a second floor to accommodate larger crowds. The establishment has plenty of large tables for social gatherings or hosting birthday parties. Despite having many customers and tables to attend to, the service to serve the food was prompt and efficient.
The Chicken Satay was a highlight of the meal, grilled to perfection with tender and juicy meat. The presentation was impressive with the satays stacked vertically using an onion ring as a holder.
The Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce was another hit, with a crispy skin and juicy, tender meat. The mushroom sauce added an extra savory flavor that complemented the chicken well.
For those who prefer Asian cuisine, the Ginger Fish with Rice is a good option to consider. Although it tasted ordinary and lacked any distinct flavors, it's a good option for those who don't enjoy western food.
The brownies were rich, fudgy, and had a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness. The texture was just right - not too cakey or too dense. I could tell that they were freshly baked and made with high-quality ingredients. They were served warm and paired perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This dessert was definitely the highlight of my meal and I would highly recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth.
The Iced Lemon Tea was refreshing and came in a well-designed container with the restaurant's name printed on it. Meanwhile, the Sky Juice (Warm) came with a slice of lemon, which added a nice fragrance to the water.
Overall, the restaurant is comfortable and worth visiting again to try different dishes...
