Albay Restaurant Langkawi — Restaurant in Langkawi Island

Timing: We ordered 5 dishes. It look 50 mins for the first one to come out. Then our drinks arrived. Shortly after that our dishes arrived one by one. By the time my dish arrived, my friend already finished his dish.

Certain options from the menu were unavailable. Total was around 190 RM for 5 dishes and one drink.

Food: biryani - meat was cold. Our waiter took it back and reheated it. Spaghetti lamb - a bit of minced meat with spaghetti. Needed a lot of salt. Spaghetti seafood - greyish noodles with tiny prawns. It looked and tasted disgusting. Chicken pizza - looked like it was bought from a supermarket. Tasted alright. Cheese pancake - looked nothing like the image in the menu. Wrap bread with mozzarella cheese melted on top. Tasted like nothing.

Service: Waiter was friendly enough but food took almost an hour to come.

The services provided were also below standard, with several issues that detracted from my visit:

Outdoor seating areas were available, but eating in these areas was prohibited. No handwashing facilities were readily available. When I inquired about washing my hands, I was directed to a nearby restroom that was not conveniently located. Shockingly, I was even suggested to wash my hands in the hotel pool, which is unacceptable. Quantity and quality of food does not qualify for what they are charging. The bill was not computer generated and also charged extra 10% as taxes on hand written bill.

Today was my third visit to the restaurant (2x eat-in and 1x take out) with 2 small kids (2 & 5 yo). It's located inside the Dayang Bay Resort, but it's accessible to everyone. There is a big roofed terrace to eat outside in the shade.

The food is very tasty. We've tried the Arabic/Moroccan food, the Indian food and the pizza's. The portions are good and not too big. Staff is friendly and approachable. They adjust the dishes upon request and they can also make food that's not on the menu. The drinks are fresh and good.

If there is feedback for them to improve, I would suggest they re-print and re-laminate their menu cards as they are a bit weared down. Also putting a small piece of fresh fruit on the drinks would make it look...
