Food was horrendous, prawn was spoilt, after one taste the food was returned. restaurant was reluctant to change and instead argued with us that it was our taste buds that were the issue. Even though we didnt eat the food and returned it the restaurant wanted us to pay full amount for the spoilt food. Staff were rude and really unreasonable. Other food (eg, tacos were ok but portion was relatively small, for the price I would say not worth it). Overall horrendous experience
Reply: Its honestly hilarious how you guys are trying to play the victim game now. Lets take it point by point. 1- It was never about money, if the food quality was up to standards we said in the restaurant itself that we would even pay twice as much as the price stated. 2- Wheres the professionalism with your staff when we brought up issues and u tell us theres no fishy smell but our taste buds are the issue? 3- We came with 15 people. If money was the issue we wouldnt have placed ourselves in one of the more pricier restaurants in and around the area 4- $93 discount? thats a joke. Two dishes had issues. One of the dish only one prawn was eaten and nothing else was touched, the other dish the prawns were shared with my friends and I because we wanted to be SURE that the prawn was spoilt and it wasnt a ME issue. We sent the dish back after ensuring there was an actual issue. Lets bring back your memory to the billing. You guys wanted to charge for BOTH the dishes that were sent back. After we explained (the whole back and forth went for about 30 mins) then only you understood that there was an issue and still decide to charge half the price for the prawn dish. The biggest issue was when one of the staff smirked at us when we were raising our concerns. Really disrespectful. 5- 15 of us flew from another country do you think we have nothing better to do but ‘ruin’ a small restaurant for no reason? Come on now. It wouldnt have been an issue if the staff were respectful and even took the slightest bit of responsibility but it was all ‘we are right you are wrong’. Well if you think money was the issue please go ahead and look at our receipt and see how much we spent for 15 people. You mentioned one receipt only in your reply, we paid in batches ofcourse u wont say that.
Well lastly for the people thinking to visit the establishment, I think the reply from the owner tells enough about...
Read moreThis was posted on their FB as well but later on, my "do not recommend" was changed to "recommend" and when I tried reposting, I was not able to do so.
Went to this spot at Cenang mall because of the google reviews but was let down due to the following :
Staff and chef has no clue what "gluten free" dishes are about. This is especially when it was clearly indicated in their menu that certain dishes are supposedly gluten free. So when we ordered a "gluten free" lasagna, we were disappointed to find out that the lasagna had wheat flour pasta as their base. So why on earth is this dish labelled gluten free then? Credit to the staff that quickly verified with us on what gluten free means and sadly, the chef himself seemed to hv no clue what it meant until we clarified. but I can't imagine what it would entail if no party clarified this. if this restaurant cannot ensure certain dishes are fully gluten free (i.e free from WHEAT based items). Pls don't indicate this in your menu. You can get sued if a customer really had severe allergic reactions from consuming your "gluten free" dishes.
Their Chili con carne would flip any Mexican who'd try eating there Ours can't be called a chili con carne. I'd call it watery beef soup. Google what that dish is about and one would know what we are on about. Dish came watery with pathetic pieces of beans and beef (happy to share photos for this) Their chili con carne was supposedly gluten free but i highly doubt it because right as I am typing this, my husband is already bloated & having mild reactions to whatever gluten in the soup. I have seen google photos of their food from other reviewers and the chili con carne looks decent. Does this mean your chef has been extremely inconsistent then?
El Toro, get your act together. Seriously. P/s : the one star is for the staff who clarified. And their beef taxos was their only...
Read moreI’m a Mexican American who has lived in various asian countries for 9 years. I’ve tried many Mexican restaurants during that time and have always been left dissatisfied, even if the chef says they’ve lived in Mexico or that they’re different from the others. I came to El Toro my first night in Langkawi just looking for a quick meal but I soon realized that this restaurant is very unique. I felt at home with the many sauces and options that they offer, and the waiter was kind and did a great job at recommending me their specialties.
At this point, I had already felt extremely satisfied with my experience, but then the band came out and they were all so talented and played a variety of songs. I even requested one and they were able to play it, too. The guitarist especially was a sight to behold. I’m a guitar player and I couldn’t hear a single mistake despite playing a plethora of solos and different styles of music. The singer sang with a triumphant voice and the acoustic guitar played and sang in a style that would make legendary musicians proud. The manager Annie was also very kind and she asked me questions to learn about my experience there. This is the first time I’ve tried a random restaurant for some quick food and left utterly impressed. I will definitely...
