RELAXING & PEACEFUL HISTORICAL HERITAGE WITH CHARM
Temple Tree is a beautiful estate with 6 stunning historical houses consisting of 15 unique rooms to choose from. Each house originated from different states in Malaysia and was relocated and beautifully restored, preserving its distinctive architectural heritage.
Experience the colonial charm with their impressive spruced up bar and restaurant overlooking their inviting pool and stunning grounds.
Their warm, friendly and helpful staff made our experience easy and effortless. Fauzan patiently assisted with our queries before our arrival and Minnie welcomed us with a warm smile & a selection of complimentary drinks. We chose the Prosecco 🥂 For non-alcohol drinkers, there was a refreshing cucumber mint cooler.
We stayed at Penang House 2, which was perfect for our family of 3. The beds were nice & comfy with a good firm mattress, fluffy pillows and soft sheets. The house was very well light with lots of power points for charging devices. Both bedrooms had air-conditioning which circulated through the house, keeping it nice and cool.
Wooden walls divided all the rooms including the bathroom only up to about 7 - 8ft, then it was wooden screens up to the roof, to allow for ventilation around the house. Luckily no heavy snorers amongst us but if you are staying with snorers or friends you don’t know too well, this is something to consider.
We would also recommend bringing some bedroom slippers to protect your feet from the wooden floor boards. A few splinters got through my soft ‘city’ feet but nothing a set of tweezers couldn’t fix! Each house is unique in its architecture and materials, so there are plenty of beautiful rooms to choose from to suit your preferences.
Each morning we were greeted by Temple Tree’s helpful and friendly wait staff as we enjoyed our breakfast on the porch or in the garden. The buffet breakfast offered a good selection of Western (toast, cereal, cheese, salmon & sausages) and Eastern dishes (roti, mee, porridge, pao). You could also order pancakes and eggs to be freshly made. Their coffee was smooth and easy to drink, not too acidic. ☕️Plates were also cleared in a swift manner. Tidiness and cleanliness is definitely on point here. 🧹
Despite not having beach views, their pool and grounds certainly made up for it. Laze on a sun lounger feeling the breeze and enjoy the open views of the hills with the most beautiful sunsets 😎🌅 If you’re lucky, you may catch a rainbow. 🌈
Their airy relaxed atmosphere creates a sense of ease and gravitates guests who seek an open friendly vibe. We met some lovely families who shared life stories and enjoyed tossing balls 🏈 in the pool, which made our experience 💯
Superbly located for our needs, it was a mere 10 mins from Langkawi Airport (RM10 Grab ride) and 7 mins to Cenang beach (RM5 Grab ride). Super close and easy to restaurants, duty free and the airport.
If you like venturing around the island, Temple Tree is about 25 - 35 mins ride to the Kilim Geoforest Park, Temurun Waterfall or Kuah city...
Read moreThe one star does not reflect the resort. It reflects how we were treated and lied to before we even arrived. The resort itself is lovely and peaceful although it could do with a little updating. The staff are very attentive, polite and welcoming. You also see a vast array of wildlife within the grounds. However, once we booked and fully paid, I was informed of a computer error which had double booked our room for a few days during our stay and we had to relocate. Obviously we were angry but complied and spent 2 nights in the Casa del Mar which I can highly recommend. Whilst there, we found out that our room was not double booked. Everyone had to leave as the owner of Temple Tree was having her 50th Birthday party there. Absolutely disgusting management. She even got her staff to lie to the guests regarding the party. When we found this out, we tried to have our payment transferred to the Casa del Mar for the remainder of our holiday but this was refused. We were offered a meal on our return to the hotel for our wedding anniversary, one weeks refund and an upgrade which we did accept. However, the following week a wedding was being held at the resort and only our room was not booked by the guests. The hotel knew this 7mth ago and only informed us a week before and that we were invited. We felt railroaded into it as that day the pool and bar would be closed therefore ruining another day of our holiday. I was even refused an orange juice whilst the wedding took place as only iced water was being served. We were also informed it was formal attire so we had to purchase new clothes. This we did not need to do as we were mis informed, so wasted money on clothes we will never wear again. We never got the upgrade for the remaining 10 days of our stay as promised and was only refunded 3 days back. After a discussion with the manager, they promised to refund the rest which I have finally received. It was the constant lies from the beginning that angered us and that is no way to run a business. The breakfast on a few days was diabolical. When the party and wedding were taking place, there was cheeses, salmon, hot and cold food etc. Once they left, not even iced water was left out. We paid for a buffet breakfast as we don't eat that much but was informed it was order from menu as limited guests. We prefer to browse and select our own food. I did order some melon once and received a full plate full instead of a small portion so that was wasted food. This hotel seems to cater for the larger bookings and put them first before the normal holiday makers which is extremely poor management. The owner made the staff lie to paying guests however, management should grow a backbone and tell the truth. Overall we were very disappointed with the whole experience. If we ever decided to return to Langkawi, we would stay at the...
Read moreI had dinner at Temple Tree Langkawi with a few friends tonight, and while the setting was undeniably beautiful, the overall experience left us disappointed.
The restaurant wasn’t busy, with only a few tables occupied (less than 3-4), so we expected more attentive service. Food and drinks are simply delicious. Everything went smoothly until a birthday cakes was brought out at the request of a friend. Unfortunately, the presentation was far from celebratory. The cake was served as if it were just another course during dinner, with no effort to create a special moment. To make it worse, the table was not cleared beforehand, which really took away from the occasion. My two friends left disappointed.
While the first staff member, a courteous Malay gentleman (a junior member I belive), served us well and left a positive impression, the same cannot be said for the other staff member. His lack of effort to provide even the most basic celebratory touch was evident, reflecting either a serious gap in training or a disregard for service excellence, despite seeming experienced.
What was meant to be a special occasion felt diminished due to this poor service. Just because we are Malaysians does not mean we deserve to be treated with anything less than the standard of care you extend to all guests.
If you're wondering whether I would return, it’s a firm NO. And if asked whether I’d recommend your restaurant to my friends and family, the answer would also be a resounding NO. Such disappointing service makes it difficult to consider a return visit.
Given the charm of the venue, we were expecting a much higher level of service, especially for such a personal celebration. Sadly, it fell short of expectations. A beautiful place, but the experience could have been much more memorable with a little more attention to detail and care for...
