Honey Badger Hut Hostel — Hotel in Langkawi Island

It's admirable that Volunteers have helped to build and run this place, but in many ways it shows! ||On the plus side you can't beat the price, £9 a night for a private room, water and beer are cheap and the place itself isn't that far from the beach. ||However, it's only good for the younger "traveller" person who wants to drink beer around the table every night. The staff don't really introduce you to the hostel and essentially point to where your room is and that's it, no quick walk around the place. There's a kitchen but you're not allowed to use it, and forget sleeping any earlier than 12pm, there's always some sort of "party" in the lobby (i.e. hanging around the table) which is meant to be done by 11pm but the staff don't enforce it. Finally, the bathrooms aren't great, they have electric showers but none of them actually heat the water (good pressure though), and the water doesn't drain well so tends to pond around the toilet seat. ||A very...

Honestly i never do that on internet but this time i think it's gonna be helpful for many people. I came there to be volunteer (workaway) during the new year period. The place is amazing : gardens, cows, close from the beach, etc and the manager is realy cool. The problem was more... after the first night :) I woke up with bites of bedbugs. I sent a text to the manager like : bedbugs ?. And actually he knew it. Because the hostel is infested ! And the owner needed staffers for the new year period so he didn't say anything to us before ! The cleaning session against bedbugs was schedule just after new year (they can't close during this period because... new year = money!) but seriously they just let people sleeping like that ?! this is not honest and border. The owner is not leaving inside so he probably doesn't care but this...

Would not recommend anyone to stay here. We’re been traveling a lot and stayed mostly at hostels, but the experience this hostel gave us is probably the worst. ||It’s looks like a really cozy hostel and when we checked in I asked if they were having a problem with bed bugs, and they said no. ||But the morning after when we found bed bugs in our room another guy who works there said that the last time they found them were 3-4 days ago.. And apparently they had a problem since December!! When we then asked the owner about this he went crazy and swore at us and told us that we could just leave?? No refund and no help at all because the owner told us that we where checking out either way so “why would he help?”||The most stupid thing is that they were about to let two girls stay in the beds where the bugs...
