Very humble simple Japanese restaurant that have been around since before the pandemic. This place was never in my list / knowledge as it just look too "cheap" 😂 Thanks to my uni friends that brought me here, was a wonderful surprise! When we came there were few tables that were Japanese businessmen, this authenticity definitely ticked my boxes and change my mind.
Although it's cheap and basic, food was quite good too, very homely, nothing spectacular and definitely not fancy like the other luxurious ones. Their portion was also not as huge as the others. But it's affordable! And their sashimi cut, look at them! So so chonky! Chawanmushi was so soft it literally melts in your mouth 😍 Japanese curry rice wasn't as sweet as I expected, theirs I'd say somehow has become a little localised with the addition of curry leave taste(?) 🤔 Tempura udon was slightly salty, and came with just two prawn tempura, yall can skip this. Unagi rice is not bad, but just rice and Unagi. That's all. Don't expect anything over the top haha. Some times all we need is just simple home cooked food.
Theres only two pair of helping hands. Boss in the kitchen, ladyboss serving. So please ok be patient. Given the price and enviroment, this meal was definitely...
Read moreWe were walking around and bumped into this not so crowded Japanese restaurants. It was a long weekend and almost all the restaurants in Melaka town are full!
The shop is rather short handed, I see the same friendly lady who acts as waitress and cashier, and most of the times she's at the kitchen that customer has to wait either to be served or to pay.
Food quality - I can't say they serve the best Japanese food in town. Their cooking is very much home based, cozy and down to earth, and inexpensive. We ordered a unagi maki but I cannot find any familiar unagi taste. Teriyaki chicken don comprised of a huge piece of chicken, certainly value for money. Green tea is another aspect I must mention here - they don't serve traditional Japanese green tea but instead a jasmine green tea probably produced in China. That's really a setback.
To conclude, if you are after a home cooked taste, inexpensive Japanese meal and less crowd, this is probably the...
Read moreA great dining place during peak hours as most of the restaurants nearby were pretty crowded. They served more like a home cook style of Japanese dishes which makes you feel comfortable when eating, especially in such a chill and relax atmosphere that the restaurant provides.
Am not going to rate the food until so perfect as their food is pretty simple, not much fancy decorations, but I will say it definitely worth you to give a try as their food is just simply...
