The cendol tastes just fine and it hits way way better when it's scorching hot outside. A self-service establishment where you need to carry the cendol to the table yourself. The price is lower compared to the "premium" cendol at some upscale chain restaurants, which dare i say, haji shariff's one is better. It's always been like that anyway. So instead of wasting your money on so-so cendol at fancy places just for the gram, cendol here is suffice. The shortcomings are the limited parkings, worsens by the narrow road along the restaurant front. Also, the establishment should consider investing in air conditioning units too. Or increase the number of cooling fans that can lower down the restaurant temperature because honestly you can still feel the heat from the sun and whatever they may be cooking, from your table. I understand that this is a family legacy and i think they are doing well in preserving its reputation. Definitely will suggest it to friends and family.

We visited Hj Shariff to enjoy some cendol and rojak. However, we encountered a few issues during our visit. Firstly, there was a long queue, and the service was self-service. There was no special treatment or ambiance. Secondly, when we requested extra forks or spoons, we were told that we had to pay 50 cents for a plastic fork. The cleanliness of the spoons and forks was not up to par, and we had to wipe them before using. It seems that cleanliness is not their top priority. We also noticed that the vendor at the cendol stall was not very hygienic. He handled the ice and money simultaneously while packing the cendol for customers. On the positive side, the cendol was refreshing and not overly sweet. However, the rojak was just average. It seems that people overlook the food handling issues because the cendol is good. It would be great if the vendor could consider being more hygienic when handling and serving the food.

Started as two stalls at Lake Gardens 40-50 years ago, they're now nicely established with out of towners coming especially for their Cendol, a shaved ice dessert with coconut milk, palm sugar and green string flour and Rojak, literally means mixed mess, a filling dish of beansprouts, fried tofu, prawn crackers, boiled egg and mildly spicy peanut sauce. It's as crowded as it always was the and seating is limited to 70-80 people. You can share tables if an empty seat is available. There is no table service meaning it is self service. There are two conters. One is for rojak and one for cendol. Whether it tapao or makan in shop just queue for the Rojak and pay for your order there. There are two queues for the Cendol, one to tapao and one for makan and pay for it there too. Depending on time if the day, long lines but quite fast as operations has everything down to pat. Am still lovin it.

I was a frequent and loyal customer. Now, I am not longer a customer by choice. I usually went to there to take away food for my staff. And my usual order usually consist of one set of Rojak and one small paper-wrapped Nasi lemak.

but then one day, i decided to get 2 small paper wrapped Nasi lemak. I am getting more food than usual. The plastic bag that they provide is so small that i could not knot-tie the plastic handles together to avoid the Nasi Lemak from spilling all over the car while on the road. So, I requested nicely for another plastic bag.

What happened next is appalling and a deep shock to my core. I was literally denied the plastic bag and ask to go away via hand gesture from the staff at the Rojak order counter. I knew that the staff taking orders is usually in a hectic state and displays dissatisfaction and discontentment on his facial expression for most of the time i had been ordering my food since a years ago. But there was no queue and no sense of urgency, and i asked for just 1 extra bag so that i can avoid the food that i bought from spilling all over the car. and this is the reply that i get.

Not to mention, the food is getting worst. Bland.

Not coming back to this...
