捞得爽火锅 LaoDeShuang Hot Pot Soho Ipoh — Restaurant in Perak

This was honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. I only came here because the Falim branch had shut down, and I had never tried this location before — but I definitely won’t be returning.

It started off badly right from the beginning. When I called to make a reservation, the staff on the phone was completely unprofessional — there were long awkward silences, no polite phrases like “please hold” or any proper communication. It felt like they didn’t know how to handle a basic phone call.

When I arrived, the issues continued. The sauce station was empty, and everything had to be requested — water, cups, missing items — nothing was proactively provided. Even after asking, things took a long time to arrive. Some food ingredients were also unavailable, and again, no explanation or apology was offered.

What frustrated me most was that even after I gave feedback — clearly mentioning that the food was taking too long — there was no response, no apology, no proper acknowledgment like, “We’re sorry, we’ll bring it out right away.” Nothing. Just complete silence and indifference.

The service staff acted like they didn’t care — as if they were doing the bare minimum, or less. I had to keep following up and asking repeatedly, just to get basic service. The delay in food service was so bad that in the end, I couldn’t take it anymore. I left without even properly finishing my meal. Nothing about this experience was enjoyable or acceptable.

GOOD Overall experience was great at this hotpot restaurant. Staffs greeted me with pleasant attitude when I first arrive at the door. Friendly and attentive waiters

BAD Both soup base I would like to try was not available. It’s quite disappointing when you arrive at the shop after just a short while they open for business at 6pm but they mentioned the soup base is sold out. At the time I arrived there was only one table occupied.

Looking forward to my next visit and hoping the soup base would...

There is only one criteria to decide if hotpot restaurant is good or bad, it is the freshness of the prawn. I can confirm at the time of my visit, the prawn served here was fresh. The flesh of the prawn is still bouncy.

Other than ala cart, they have buffet price as well. I think it is more worth it to dine in with buffet price.
