We were visiting Ipoh with our children and booked this hotel on the basis of its advertised breakfast and pool.|We had checked both the website and social media in advance. We arrived to find that the pool was closed for repair - which was extremely disappointing- despite discussions with management no compensating feature was offered.||The pool reopened during our stay - which was welcome - the reasons for its closer were obvious as the exterior of the paving is heavily cracked and there are large sections of the pool with missing tiles. Whilst we used the pool we discovered a number of loose tiles underfoot, together with other items including unidentified plastics and empty water bottles. The chairs around the pool have no padding and are in need of refurbishment.||This is far from a four star or even three star hotel. |The hotel is tired which is sometime forgivable at a lowered price point - however it is unkempt to the point of unclean - this is sadly noticeable in all areas including the reception carpet ceiling and light fixtures. The lifts doors on our floor was extremely grubby and covered in dirty handprints and marks- there also appears to be no discernible air conditioning in communal areas.||Our room was large, clean and comfortable and whilst the air conditioning wasn’t great it was at least functioning. Extremely concerning that on the top floor of a hotel the windows of the rooms fully open with absolutely no safety bars or rails- this is especially relevant if you are visiting with young children. ||The is significant building work going on around the hotel- it starts early in the morning and continues until late in the evening- the noise can be heard inside the rooms and in the outside places it is deafening. Read moreI recently stayed at Impiana Hotel Ipoh for 4 nights, and unfortunately, this time around it was a disappointing experience. I’ve stayed here many times before when visiting my grandma in Ipoh, so I didn’t have high expectations because I know the hotel is quite outdated but I stay for convenience. Still, I was hoping for at least decent service.
When I first arrived, the front desk staff didn’t greet us properly and seemed moody, which was not a great start. Only the doorman and guards were friendly and welcoming, which I really appreciated.
Before arriving, I had emailed the hotel to request two rooms either next to each other, on the same floor, or at least facing each other since I booked two rooms with twin beds. When we checked in, we were given connecting rooms, which was okay, but one of them had a king bed. When I mentioned this to the receptionist, she seemed irritated, even though the mistake wasn’t mine. She had already processed the rooms, but I clearly booked two twin-bed rooms, and she should have checked that detail.
It also felt like we were given the worst view, directly facing construction, which was noisy. On top of that, the room lacked enough power outlets, and there was no outlet near the table to charge our devices, which was very inconvenient.
The night before we checked out, housekeeping didn’t clean our room at all, and I had to inform the receptionist to send someone to clean. Luckily, I was going out for dinner so they could do it while we were out but it really shouldn’t have been missed.
I’m a regular guest here, and I usually choose this hotel out of habit when I come back to Ipoh but this stay was honestly disappointing. I hope they improve their service and attention to detail in the future, especially for...
