Yum Cha House Dim Sum in Ipoh has been around for quite some time . It’s often packed with people, especially during long weekends or public holidays—so much so that I usually skip it to avoid the queue. But this time, I decided to give it a try and see what the hype was about. The dim sum selection is extensive, with a variety of both classic and unique items—some of which you won’t typically find in your average dim sum restaurant. It’s refreshing to see them trying new variations beyond the usual offerings. In terms of service, I found the staff to be quite attentive and responsive, even during busy periods, which is always appreciated in a fast-paced setting like this. As for the food, the taste is on standard—satisfying and enjoyable, though not particularly extraordinary. It gets the job done if you’re craving dim sum, but don’t expect a mind-blowing experience. One thing to note is the price for premium items. Some dishes, like the abalone dim sum and fish, are priced as high as RM25 each, which can be surprising if you’re not aware—so it’s a good idea to ask about prices before ordering to avoid any shocks on the bill. Additionally, it would be great if the restaurant could offer some meatless or vegetarian options. This would make it more inclusive, especially for vegetarians who want to catch up with friends but may not be comfortable with the food that offering. The biggest downside during my visit was the ventilation or air-conditioning system. The blower was extremely strong where we were seated, causing paper liners under the buns (pau) to fly around, which was both distracting and a bit unhygienic. It’s definitely something the management should look into to improve the dining experience.

*** Google's Reviews Helped me find this Gem, so I'm helping you : ) *** Visited 9 Nov 24 - 3 pax - RM70+ Finding it ~ It was easy via WAZE and a huge signage by the road with plenty of parking around, especially opposite the restaurant. Ambience ~ Huge dining areas with outdoor (Fans) and indoor air-conditioning. Typical Hongkong TimSum Restaurant style. Lots of service staff, and they are waiting to serve you right at the door. Very busy place and the food-vibe and happy customers is very apparent. Service ~ Once seated, someone will take your order for drinks and different service staff with different trays of food will keep rotating among the tables for your selection. Typical Timsum style. We had a variety of Tim Sum dishes and really worth a detour-stop as I was driving home from Penang back to Singapore. 9/10. Clean environment and Tasty food. Price ~ I think is reasonable and fairly priced. 3 Pax RM$70++. Will I visit again ~ Of course I will!! Is one of those rare Tim Sum places that starts at 630am....my ideal time for BF. The photos only shows 50% of what I ate as I was too busy eating with no time for photo-taking. The Charsiew Pao is a MUST!!

Yum Cha House Dim Sum in Ipoh is a popular spot for dim sum enthusiasts, offering a wide variety of steamed and fried dishes. The restaurant operates from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM and is closed on Tuesdays. It's advisable to arrive early, as the venue tends to get crowded quickly, especially on weekends and public holidays. Diners can expect a bustling atmosphere where staff promptly serve dim sum from trays brought directly to the table. Signature items include siew mai, har gow, steamed fish balls, and char siew pau. The deep-fried yam puff is noted for its thick and sweet filling with ample pork bits, though some may find it on the sweeter side. The oven-baked char siew bun and Portuguese egg tarts are also well-received. While the dim sum portions are generous, some patrons feel that the larger sizes make it challenging to sample a broader range of dishes in one sitting. Prices are slightly higher compared to other local establishments, but many find the quality and portion sizes justify the cost. Overall, Yum Cha House Dim Sum offers a lively dining experience with a diverse menu, making it a noteworthy destination for dim sum in Ipoh.

Newly opened dimsum restaurant. At first, just want to have a try. But to my surprise, when I reach here, saw a big crowd. Plan to go other place as not to wait too long, but luckily I did not. I choose to join the queue. Anyway, not waiting for so long that I was asked to have a seat in the restaurant. I choose the indoor rather than outdoor. The place is good, great atmosphere, fantastic ambience, offer good and delicious dimsum, really like it. Service is great. The owner I think, sitting at the cashier there, giving instructions maybe, really systematic. Like it bery much. The dimsum is great !!! Worth visiting. At least better than other dimsum restaurant. Still remember we are chased out from one of the famous dimsum restaurant, F-brand, because they are welcoming a bigger crowd that time. Now that F-brand restaurant no longer visited by visitors when I visit Ipoh this time. Hope this restaurant will maintain and become the greatest dimsum restaurant in Ipoh. Hope those rude waitresses from F-brand do not come to work here and spoil this restaurant. Hua Li Lou, Great !!!!!

I noticed this new dim sum signboard perhaps less than a year ago and customers waiting outside. I thought that's good promotions to have a queue form outside for a new restaurant - create demand 😁😁😁. Somehow today I have time and being curious I stop there for lunch. It is located ground floor of a 3-4 star hotel at one side. I tasted their BBQ pork bun, loh mai kai, chicken claw, siew mai and woo kok. Surprisingly, the first 3 items is juicy flavorful (unlike those dry or overdone). Siew mai is good quality ingredients - firm fresh- not like those resteamed and overcooked - price however is higher than normal rm6.50-7.00 but given quality I say it's OK. Anyway, don't take my word for it, go try, perhaps this can be a new Dim Sum place for you. I have to mention that the man waiter (forgot to ask his name) that took and recommend the Dim sum to me knows his job well - it helps alot having staff like this to run a successful restaurant. As for the environment - more a place for food, not for entertaining customers. I will go again. Ipoh is food paradise.

Always wanted to try dimsum here for breakfast in Ipoh and happen to find this place with such high reviews in Google Good queueing system, able to accomodate our request to sit inside even though we are just 2 pax I can understand why such many high reviews are given due to the affordability and size of the dimsum, better to come here as a group of 4 pax and above in order to try more variety of dim sum My dimsum benchmark would be the siew mai but it didn't manage to capture my heart, below average for me as there are better one out there Highlight for me would be the "wu kok" which the young employees recommended me to try and customise only 1 portion for me as usually it served in 2 biji. Very nice and flavorful pork fillings. Another highlight would be the egg tart which smell fragrant of butter and taste nice as well, it remind me of the taste of 0riental Kopitiam. Overall is not too bad but I believe there are some local hidden gem dimsum store that can do better than this ;) feel free to give it a try!
