Ipoh World at Han Chin Pet Soo — Attraction in Perak

Ipoh World (IpohWorld) is an education-based, not-for-profit organisation established in 2004 to promote awareness and appreciation of Perak, the Silver State of Malaysia and its unique, diverse and rich heritage, with particular focus on Ipoh and the Kinta Valley. In 2006 we ran our first public exhibition "The Story of Ipoh: From Feet to Flight", in cooperation with Darul Ridzuan Museum. Since then, supported by sponsorship, we have run several more exhibitions while continuing to seek further financial support for a permanent, lively and interesting heritage gallery for Ipoh, thus enhancing both education and tourism. Need to book online through their website ipohworld, even if no entrance fee (donation possible). The visit is systematically with a guide who prints out the list of guests. His explanations are clear with a nice sense of humor. Pet Soo means mansion in Hakka dialect, so this place is a club for rich Hakka men in tin business founded in 1893. The notes, photos and maps are good quality. Only the wall drawings (tin exploitation system, tin dredger and so on) and the wax figures are low quality. Terrific place, a must go to understand local history and cultural heritage. The guided tour is fantastic, and I love the speaker’s patience as he tells the story of Ipoh. Definitely five stars for the guide for being so professional.

Just wanted to say that I think one of the introductions on F2 seems to in wrong, see picture, about the Hakka people, the map and EN version seems to be accurate, saying that they originated from Shanxi山西，but the Chinese version mistakenly wrote Shaanxi 陕西, which is another province.
