Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum, Ipoh is well-known for its traditional and flavorful dim sum offerings, making it a favorite for both locals and tourists. Here's a detailed review:

Ambiance: Ming Court has a no-frills, old-school Chinese restaurant vibe, which adds to the authentic experience. The bustling environment, especially during the morning rush, gives you a sense of a true local dim sum house. Seating can be a bit cramped, but that's part of the charm for many visitors.

Food: The dim sum is fresh, light, and tasty, with some highlights being: Char Siew Pao (BBQ pork buns): Soft, fluffy with a generous filling of sweet and savory pork. Har Gow (Shrimp dumplings): Delicate and flavorful with juicy shrimp inside. Siew Mai (Pork dumplings): Well-seasoned, tender, and always served hot. Chee Cheong Fun (Rice noodle rolls): Silky smooth with a delicious filling, often paired with light soy sauce.

The portions are small, but this allows diners to sample a variety of dishes without feeling too full.

The negative is their dim sum was not served in an aesthetic manner. The food are in one chunk. Not appetizing to eat when the other hawkers food arrange better on the plate.

Service: The service is efficient, though slightly rushed due to the high volume of customers. Dim sum carts quickly make their rounds, and staff are attentive but don’t expect long, personal interactions.

Price: Ming Court is known for being reasonably priced, especially considering the quality and variety of dim sum on offer. It’s a great value for those wanting an authentic dim sum experience without breaking the bank.

Downsides: The waiting time can be long, especially on weekends or holidays. Arriving early is recommended. Some dishes may sell out if you're not early enough.

Overall: Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum in Ipoh is a must-visit for dim sum lovers. With its traditional setting and a wide variety of dishes, it offers a classic yet affordable dim...

Ming Court Hong Kong Tim Sum in Ipoh, Malaysia, is a well-known spot for traditional dim sum, attracting both locals and tourists alike.

Established decades ago, it has become a popular breakfast destination, often resulting in long waits, especially during weekends and holidays.

The system here is unique; instead of ordering from a menu, staff members circulate with trays of various dim sum offerings, allowing customers to choose directly from the selection brought to their tables.

During my recent visit on September 20, 2024, I experienced the usual crowd and had to wait about 20-30 minutes before being seated.

The variety of dim sum was extensive, but unfortunately, the quality varied. The fried carrot cake and char siew bao were average, and the chee cheong fun fell short of my expectations.

The fried dim sums were slightly better but lacked freshness, as some seemed to have been sitting on the tray for a while.

The tea was pleasant, though refilling the hot water was self-service, which might not appeal to everyone.

Overall, Ming Court is worth visiting for its historical significance and unique ordering style if you’re new to Ipoh.

However, for those seeking exceptional taste, it might not meet high expectations. The food is decent but not outstanding, and the experience may not be worth a repeat visit for some.

Nevertheless, everyone’s standard of food is different, and it could be a hit or miss depending on individual preferences.

By the way, there's a woman who is homeless and seeks shelter nearby the restaurant with a cat. If you're nearby, you can probably donate to her so that the cat can get...

Fu Shan is closed on Monday, so we headed to the opposite Ming Court for authentic Hong Kong Dim Sum. It is full even at early 7 o'clock. But it was a short wait and we joined table with another two Korean tourist. There is table service. The customer just need to wait at the table for them to bring some hot and delicious dim sums to show you. Their service was fast and friendly, some staffs can even communicate in English with the Korean tourists which shows really great hospitality. Their dim sum is really small compared to others, but the quality is good and not very oily. You will find many reviewers comment on the smaller size, but it indeed a good point where you will be able to enjoy many kind of dim sum that available. We are totally agreed with that as it was enjoyable, and you won't feel too heavy after ate plenty. Price is average, where per head cost about RM20-25. Parking in the early morning was difficult as the main road was full. But you can always drive to the next road behind the restaurant and find some parking spaces there. There are also some private parking available in the surrounding area. They got a very nice and friendly boss at the cashier counter to serve the customer. We will definitely come back again to Ipoh because of their hospitality. Just a small advice, please come before 8am, there was really a long long que even on...
