Andrew and Ah Yim are the sweetest couple. Andrew, a Malaysian, met his wife, Ah Yim, while traveling for work in Vietnam. Pre-covid, obvi.
Everyone raves about the pho, which is the real deal. They boil the bones & broth for 4 hours and then leave it to steep overnight, for the maximum extraction of nutrients and flavor. I’ll be honest, I’m a strict vegetarian, which is the real reason I showed up at their door.
I literally shoveled the food into my mouth. I ate rice vermicelli noodles with loads of fresh basil, mint, carrots, and other veggies. It is served with nước chấm, an umbrella term for vietnamese sauces. I avoid fish sauce, so they substituted a soy sauce with a zest of spice and sweetness. Solid and decent homey Vietnamese restaurant with simple and clean interior and seating.
Got the beef stew noodles and spicy braised chicken rice. Beef stew is super beefy with balanced flavors of Vietnamese style herbs and spices, kind of like an amped up beef ABC soup per say. I would order again with an additional remark of adding more thai basil if possible. Chicken was moist and succulent, however wished there was some sort of gravy or braised sauce that’s from the chicken to pair with white rice.
The best item from this meal for me however was the baguette with a bowl of pure braised beef gravy/liquid. Simple fresh clean tasting baguette with soft insides and slight crisp on the outside, pairing with the beef gravy dip however makes this a super moreish and amazing snack. I actually ordered another baguette as it was not enough for me and my brother.
Will definitely come again to try other items...
