I was out of idea on what to eat for breakfast one Saturday + out of a sudden I pined for a good siew yuk.
Then, Boon came to mind as it was definitely near to where I was and I just wanted to be done with the breakfast ASAP as I had works to do after that. Parking here proved to be difficult as I had to fight for available carparks with those who want to eat here - plus the popular Jin Xuan Dim Sum of DJ is just down the road.
◾Dry curry wantan noodle with siew yuk & char siew - wantan noodle topped with thick curry gravy flanked by char siew on one side and siew yuk on another = satisfaction! ◾Roasted chicken rice - simple thing to satisfy the sonny who requested a bowl of curry gravy before proceeding to drench the rice and whacked everything. ◾braised pork rice - an easy solution for the usually picky princesses. Small bowls but they could not eat too much in the morning anyway. ◾Chai Boey - to me, the dish was just right with balance of spiciness and sour. Am appetizing dish.
Some might say that the siew yuk of Boon has dropped in standard, but it was just good for me that morning - perfectly roasted with crackling skins. Char siew was also tasted good - or was I was too fungry...

Thank god that I believe in second chances. During my first trip here, I packed a plate of siu yoke noodle and it didn’t quite meet KL standards. Second time around, I finally understand why there’s quite a crowd even on a weekday morning. ⠀ ⠀ Boon’s premise is quite simple - roast pork / bbq honey pork / chicken with noodles / curry noodles / Japanese pearl rice.⠀ ⠀ The establishment doesn’t strive to recreate authentic siu yoke (roast pork). Instead, the roast pork is seasoned with western herbs, while maintaining the crunchy exterior. Seriously, the crunch of each roast pork bite was quite amazing - that’s reason enough to come back.⠀ ⠀ The char siew was coated with a lot of honey and went well with the noodle, but paled in comparison with the superior roast pork.
