I gave 5 stars in comparison with other kopitiam / restaurants in Kota Damansara. Dont compare to Chef Wan or Menate in TTDI. There are different restaurants to cater for different food and people.
We stayed in Kota Damansara ( now in DP) for more than 20 years and this is the first time i visited this restaurant. There have been a few restaurants occupying that spot but this one appears to have stayed since 2017.
Honestly, previously in the early years, we didnt go to this restaurant due to our genuine concern of the food halal status. We didnt know. But today, we checked out a few articles on google and saw it serves halal certified food. So we gave it a try today.
The first moment we stepped into the shop, a really cheerful lady ( Raty) greeted us with the most cheerful smile and genuine happy body language ( despite wearing a mask). We were quite suprised since, this type of warm and friendly greetings we would receive most of the times from a hotel dining cafe. Its very rare to receive this from a Kopitiam. Amazing lady. That pleasant first impression made us order quite a few meals from the shop.πππ€©
The food that we ordered were chee cheong fan, eggs on toast, toasted bread, half boiled eggs, nasi goreng cina. All bottoms up.π€©π
So in short, that short breakfast session turned out to be the start of a beautiful relationship with this shop.ππ
Just a pleasant short note to the owner π. Your halal certified food supply was the element that drew us to your shop and your delicious food and warm hospitality made us decide that this is a kopitiam that can be in our family frequent hang outs.
We hope you can spread more words out there to the public, that your shop uses all halal certified ingredients and food stock. That would be brilliant..
Oh yes, we read a review about a certain unpleasant encounter between a customer with an old lady there who works in the shop. To be fair to the customer and to this kopitiam, we saw that shes still working there but we didnt receive any unpleasant treatment from her. So we wish to highlight Raty presence was like a breath of fresh air to the kopitiam and thats important for any restaurant, the waitresses are the frontliners aka the ambassador of the shop. So, figuratively speaking, Raty today successfully formed a diplomatic alliance with my family.ππ
In conclusion, I hope the owner will read this and continue to show love to her business and to us as her muhibbah customers. Well...
Β Β Β Read moreLet me see... It was about five years ago when they opened their doors. The catchy name caught my attention because it harked back to the iconic Campbell Road hawkers square circa the 70s onwards. If you are of my generation and living in the KL and PJ conurbation, you must have been living under a rock to not have been aware. Anyway, it being a little less than a five minute drive door-to-door, I must have patronised the place dozens of times since then. The menu has evolved over the years but the staple dishes have been the regular feature... They know my favourite Cantonese fried yee mee (my style), curry mee, asam laksa, their kumquat as well as the iconic ABC. Having moved to another location, it is now a good 20 minutes drive door-to-door but my wife and I still find the time to pay them a visit. The face of the establishment is May, although occasionally you get to meet the owners. Of course, they were very much younger when the original stall was actually in Campbell Road. Give...
Β Β Β Read moreFirst of all, this is not the first time I have visited this restaurant, as itβs my neighborhood go-to destination for a good chicken chop and fried rice. There are days when I come for a good meal and days when I come for a simple drink and to do some work to kill time.
Today, I was approached by an old lady whom I had respected until I realized sheβs only friendly if youβre making a big order and not using your laptop. She came to me twice; first, she asked if I wanted to add more to my order, and second, she combined the table next to me and said, βWe need to make space for other customers,β even though the restaurant had low customer traffic at the time. She saw me charging my laptop and seemed unhappy about it as well. Overall, she did all these things to irritate me, and finally, I felt super uncomfortable because of her gestures.
I am ultimately disappointed with the old lady, who is biased towards money instead of providing a sense of welcome to a...
